9.23.07 - Plano Balloon Festival - By Emily

We went on a date to the Plano Balloon Festival! I remember being a kid and our family would chase balloons, and I haven’t gotten to do anything like that in a long time, so this was special!

We went at night and there were so many people there! - So very many! We parked about a mile away and walked to the grounds where tents were set up everywhere with lots of fried food and shopping. They had a main stage with music too.

First when we got there, there were paratroopers falling from the sky! I was amazed at how well they could steer! They all landed in exactly the right spot! Next about 20 balloons inflated and took off, which was so cool to see! I just love to watch them! They were beautiful!

After they all took off Ryan and I walked around for a while, Ryan taking pictures and me just wandering amazed at everything. At night balloons of all different shapes inflated on the ground and did a light display. They would time it so they all lit up at the same time, or they all “twinkled.” It was so pretty to watch! They were amazing how many different kids there were, a cow, a flower, a tree, a pirate, and much more!

When we left, it took us forever to get out of there! Traffic was so bad. We laughed because as we watched the people walking to their cars, every guy had the same look on their face, the “I am so grumpy because it’s gonna take forever to get out of here” face. It was such a fun time away for us to spend together though!

We have been pretty busy lately, and I am so thankful for these times to spend together seeing things that you don’t see everyday that make you stand in awe and praise the Lord for special moments like that!
