3.13.07 - Teaching to Preach

The students just hang on every word... well not always, but at least in this picture

Dave Hawkins, Training Coordinator, and co-instructor for the Preaching Biblical Messages Class

This week Emily and I had the privilege of sitting through more classes taught by CMA Teaching Director Dave Hawkins. It is so encouraging to watch the students on the island of Spanish Wells (a nearby island to Eleuthera) just soak up the Word of God and its application.

Dave Hawkins has team-taught the class “Preaching Biblical Messages” with Pastor Eddie Rasnake for the past 2 weeks. They have faithfully presented the Truth, and the students have dutifully returned night after night, some energetically taking notes.

We asked one student how the teaching which they were receiving was unique, and he responded that you just can’t find teaching on this level with such availability anywhere else. We believe that the best minister of the Word is one who has been called by God and effectively trained in proclaiming that Word. I can’t even describe how promising it is to watch the teaching of CMA in action. The realization of the vision to see Bahamian’s trained in Biblical Education in their own culture, where application is extensive, is a testament to the faithfulness of our Lord.

Where the Kingdom of God is felt, you will surely find the attacks of the enemy, and CMA is not without its challenges, yet our Lord is faithful, and our visit to these classes have revealed that God’s children, as students, are growing in the love and knowledge of our Savior. How thankful we are that the goals of the ministry are meeting the needs of the mission field.
