6.14.08 - Father's Day in Wisconsin
After What a wonderful trip we just had to Wisconsin to see the Flunkers for Father’s Day, and it was little Micah’s first trip on an airplane! He did so good!
Our trip was a little spur-of-the-moment as we began thinking that, “Golly, we’re about to leave the US, and we’d better go to see our parents while it’s easy!” So, we got the best tickets that we could find and packed up for a short 3 day trip up to the green forests and blues skies of northern Wisconsin.
The new Grandma and Grandpa were simply all too eager to get us home and once we landed it was all hugs and kisses (mostly for Micah!). Kari was also there as she has recently relocated back to Green Bay, so we were blessed with a whole Flunker Family reunion; and as we were about to find out there was more family time to come.
The very first thing we got to do was stop by our Aunt Colleen’s house for an extended family reunion, complete with Great Aunts, Cousins, and a Great Grandma! We had a wonderful time seeing everyone, and they just loved cuddling up with Micah. He got passed around and around, but he did good (especially considering he just had his first plane ride).
Next it was back home to Florence where you can hear the crickets, and peeper frogs all night long. It was actually pretty funny, on one night we put on Micah’s noise maker for when he sleeps and it was set on frogs and chirping, and then after 30 minutes once it went off, all you could hear were the real frogs and chirping.
Dad and I were out fishing first thing in the morning, and I’m telling you it was so much fun. We caught one after another, fish after fish on every cast. More than a few times both my dad and I would be reeling them in at the exact same time.
Our time was so filled with more fun for us and Micah, such as: church visits, a trip to the Forest Service to show off the baby, flying the helicopter (and breaking it), seeing dozens of deer and a porcupine, Micah’s first rides on the boat and the tractor, and a day at the cabin!
This trip was really in honor of Father’s Day and a highlight for both my dad and I as it was his first as a grandpa and my first as a dad. As I have always stressed, family is simply one of the most important things in our lives, and we are so thankful for the trip we had with ours.
NOTE: it was really hard to narrow down which pictures to include; I think I took about 500 of them. Look for more Micah pictures in our next newsletter.
