4.16.08 - We Flunked Our First Try
Well, someone isn’t in any rush to be born. It’s a difficult thing to get your hopes all up for when your baby is due, but alas (as many people have told us) the Lord’s timing is perfect.
We headed to the hospital, with a great attitude and excitement to get the labor and delivery on the way. In fact we walked with our friends over to the hospital, telling jokes and laughing, enjoying our time anticipating our baby’s birth. Well, this little guy is just content to sit and wait.
Then it was all night in a chair for me, and in a hospital bed for Em; little to no sleep with nurses checking in every 15 minutes; and the both of us sorta sitting here staring at each other – not really knowing if there’s anything we should be doing.
A bit of good news though, it seems that our little one is only weighing around 8-9 lbs and not 9-10 yet, so another week won’t make too big of a change. Also, the baby is looking very healthy. He’s breathing well and has a healthy heart, he’s facing the right direction and he’s still moving like a wiggle worm.
We were joking as we were getting ready to head back home and try again later because Emily said that she was a “failure” at having a baby, and we corrected her and told her that she wasn’t a failure – just a Flunker!
