4.07.08 - Mom and Mom

We’ve been waiting a long time for the baby to get here, and you can tell that that time is getting closer as Emily’s Mom, Karolyn, has now come down to Dallas to help with the grand adventure of preparing for baby #1.

Emily is quite happy to have here mom here, not just because this is her first time to go through birth and delivery, but she just loves spending time with her mom. Quite frankly, it’s always wonderful just to have family visiting no matter what the occasion.

So far we’ve gone out to eat, taken walks and made a trip to Dallas’ Arboretum. The flowers were very pretty and we’ve had absolutely beautiful weather here in Dallas, but one can’t help but think, shouldn’t this pregnant woman be lying down or resting rather than trekking around a bunch of flowers? The truth is we didn’t make it too far around the flower beds before ankles hurt and a tummy was ready to rest.

Emily is about to become a mom and if she’s anything like her mom, she’ll do just great. Yet, they do have their differences: for example Karolyn had only a 6” veggie sub at Subway, but Emily pounded an entire foot-long! (I’m pretty sure we can blame the appetite on the baby!)

Even though it has only been a few days since Karolyn got here, the baby doesn’t seem to be hustling his arrival along at all. We’re sure he’s content to just sit and grow in Emily’s belly, enjoying the warmth and comfort of continual feeding and no diapers! But he’ll have so much to look forward to, once he does decide to enter the world: a home-made crib, truckloads of baby outfits, fancy strollers, toys, and of course his ever-patient and most helpful Grandma who is eagerly waiting his arrival!
