11.14.08 - Teaching Part 2 - Freeport
This past week, Brad and I were called into action to fill in for a teacher who had some last minute problems with getting to the island of Grand Bahama. We literally only had 48hrs to prepare that which we were going to teach.
I was given the topic of Bibliology (the Study of the Bible) and Brad Theology Proper (The Study of God). It was a challenging task, but again we recognized that our authority and ability do not come from ourselves, but simply from the Word itself.
This was my first exposure to the Freeport training. The students are extremely sharp, and their questions keep you on your toes for sure. It is very difficult to "fake" any of your answers, and more than once I had to answer with, "Well, I just don't know... I'll get back to you on that," which for anyone who knows me, is a difficult thing for me to do.
Life in Freeport is much different than on Eleuthera. Because it is a city, there a lot more to do in the evenings, and folks are generally a bit busier. Expectations also appear to be a little higher, but that's not to say that that is a negative thing.
We also had the chance to speak with a few pastors on the island, and there appears to be widespread interest in the training, however the logistics of what that looks like is perhaps going to be much different than on Eleuthera.
