4.10.09 - The Flunker Grandparents Visit

We just dropped off Grandma and Grandpa Flunker to the airport after a week's long visit. This was their very first to the island, and we have been waiting in anticipation of their visit for months.

Just from the moment they arrived at the airport the island felt more like home, and they couldn't wait to get their hands on their little grandbaby.

The goal during their visit was to make the most of each day, and I had to force myself to "take-off of work" as much as possible. I went to the beach more in 1 week than I've done the entire time I've lived here. We also went fishing as much as possible!

We took 1 day during their trip to see the WHOLE island, and we literally did. From early morning to dark at night we traveled up and down our 1 road seeing everything: dolphins, 2 caves, cliffs, half-a-dozen ocean carved scenery places, the northern-most beach to the southern-most beach.

It wasn't all play and no work however, we finally got a washer and dryer that dad helped install as well as 220 electricity to run it, and mom helped paint our outside shutters blue. Dad also helped make 3 new gates on our porch so that Micah and Tag the puppy can play outside without worry about falling off.

Having the Flunker Grandparents come to Eleuthera marks the first visitors that we've had here. It was very special to have them visit. We got to take them to church with us on Sunday, and they lucked out that the week of the visit was our settlement's Homecoming Party, so they got some native conch salad, conch fritters, and Vitamalt.

We had beautiful weather during their week and we really couldn't have asked for a more perfect visit. For some, family is taken for granted, for others they are forgotten... we are so thankful that the Lord has given us such a wonderful loving family - and we hope they come back soon (Micah especially)!

...one final note - Easter is this Sunday, and traditionally mom has always hid Easter baskets for us around the house... before she left today - she hid baskets! :-)
