7.28.09 - Spotlight on Summer Interns

Emily and I both got our start with CMA through summer internships. This year we are blessed to have a fantastic team interns who have given up their summer plans to come serve at EBTC.

The intern team roster began with one of our missionaries' (Alicia Fox) sister, Katrina Ayers, a sophomore at Ball State. Katrina told her friend Heather Petty about opportunity and Heather, another sophomore, signed on for the summer as well. Finally, Clemson U sophomore and friend of the Fastzkies, Marie Cudd rounded out the summer intern team.

I have seen many interns during my time with CMA, and I'm proud to say that these three ladies have shown exemplary Christian character as well as a servant's heart to humble themselves and serve the teams this summer.

The primary responsibility for our summer staff is the care-taking and assisting of summer teams at the Training Center. It is their job to know everything about the Center and our policies, and then to invest themselves in each summer team - to lead by example and put others first.

Team after team our interns prepared the facilities, assisted with ministry plans, worked side by side on the construction site, and served selflessly without complaining or arguing. We had team member even comment on how they recognized the "little things" our interns would do to make sure that the teams knew they were valued and appreciated.

The CMA summer internship program is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in serving God though cross-cultural missions. You will be challenged and stretched, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Emily and I can see the growth that these three ladies have taken this summer, both in their service to God and their relationship with Him.

We are so grateful to have been given the privilege to work and serve with Katrina, Heather and Marie, and we'd take them all back for another summer in a heartbeat. Thank the Lord that there are those in college today who are willing to give to the Mission of God of reaching the nations with the gospel of grace.
