4.13.10 - The Flunker Grandparents Visit
We just dropped off Grandma and Grandpa Flunker at the airport after a wonderful 1 week visit (which went by very fast). I can honestly say that they had the best time with Micah, and Micah probably loved it even more.
Literally, the entire way back from the airport on the day we picked them up, Micah was laughing as hard as ever does with them; pulling off Grandpa's hat, getting tickled, and have so much fun.
Emily and love it when the Grandparents visit, probably most of all because we get a bunch of help caring for Micah, and we get to go out to eat!
However, on this visit we cooked out barbecue a lot. Emily and I have been perfecting our Bahamian cuisine so we had a lot of barbecued chicken.
We had a big cookout after church on Sunday and Wade and Tammy came over. They remembered my parents from the last time they visited, and it was a fun time with good friends and good food.
We put my dad to work again. Each time he visits its like we have our own personal live-in carpenter. This time he made us new shelves and a living room table!
We also had a lot of fun beach time. I tend to swim a bit more when family is visiting, and again on this visit they brought along snorkels and flippers. Emily had a great time diving and snorkeling, but my poor mom's snorkel would always leak. Even without diving we had more fun on the beach chasing Micah and playing catch.
Finally, on their last day with us we had a pre-birthday party with Micah, where he got a Thomas the Train from Grandma and Grandpa. With some hugs, toys, and ice cream it was a fun little party with family.
We are very fortunate to live in a country close enough to the US where family can occasionally visit. It makes us feel more connected, because over the weeks our hearts tend to long for home.
Having the Grandparents visit is often just what we need, and we are to thankful that they take the time to come see us.
