1.14.11 - CU Missions Conference
We just got back from our second tour as missionaries at the Cedarville University Mission's Conference at our alma mater in Cedarville, OH. The conference is the first week back for students from their Christmas break, and the #1 priority for setting the standard for the university in the new year.
With all the many speaking engagements and time spent with students we didn't even get to tour through the dozens of booths set up by many different ministries represented at the conference, although it's amazing to see the diversity and diligence that God's people have displayed throughout the world.
During our time in Cedarville we were blessed to stay with Delora, whom I lived with during my time as a student at the university. Micah loves her and affectionately calls her Grandma Lora.
We had a great time catching up with alumni, especially at the annual alumni luncheon during our second day there. We also were blessed to have lunch with some of our supporters, Professor Bjornstad, the McCunes, and Mark and Meredith Irving, and others.
I especially enjoyed speaking to the Intro to Mission's Class with Dr. Grigorenko. It felt like coming full-circle from being a student in that class, to having something to share from our own experience.
However, the highlight of the trip has to easily be being with Aunt RiRi (Kari). Micah is completely enamored with her, and asks for her all the time. He lights up like a lamp when she's around and he gets extra playful (and crazy sometimes). We are seriously thankful for her, and for her watching Micah throughout the week.
It was so wonderful being in the 'ville again. There is a spirit of familiarity and family that permeates Cedarville, and it is a blessing each and every time we go back. The conference is a great time to interact with other missionaries, get refueled through Biblical teaching and Christian fellowship, and return to some of our roots and recall that "Christ is all we need."
