January Newsletter '09

As Emily will tell you, January seemed to be a very long month, however it was a good one, and our start to 2009 gave us blessings within our home and our ministry.

At 9 Months - Micah's First Steps

Well, I got it on video - Micah's first steps. Our little baby is growing so fast. Just this Sunday we took him to church on the island, and everyone couldn't believe how big he has grown. Then only a few days ago, he began to venture out beyond where he can grip, taking his first steps. He is still the speediest crawler, but gosh is he ever adventurous, so no doubt he'll be running and jumping all over soon... you can pray for us!

Ministry Update

CMA is certainly in need of your prayers because the Lord is expanding our ministry and blessing us with new opportunities both in training as well as new missionaries. We are beginning our Spring teams even though it's still winter (the weather is usually pretty nice here year round). Mike and Shannan Fastzkie are our newest missionaries and they are helping out tremendously with our teams this year.

Additionally we are beginning our graduate followup program. We're convinced that CMA's relationship with our students needs to continue beyond the 2 year training program. This program involves a monthly study with all our graduates, and so far it is promising and rewarding.

Finally, there are many areas where we are declaring our dependence on God, and we invite you to pray with us. We have new training each month, trips to new islands for new training schools, new interns and missionaries, new programs and new projects, with new teams - and along with all new opportunities this new year come new challenges... we need God.

Update
Emily and I are doing good. We are always learning and adjusting, both within the ministry and as parents. Exciting news - the Flunker Grandparents are officially coming down to visit in April, along with Kari (and Emily's puppy). The ministry has also been blessed with a new video system for our classes, and that has been a gift given by YOU! For all those who support us, we want to say thank you, and stay tuned, as we will be able to show you our online classes shortly. Finally, both Emily and I are looking at upcoming trips soon, so please keep us in your prayers.

Praise for safety in travel from Christmas
Praise for the many resources that help make our ministry possible, from relationships and teams to the missionary flights that bring mail
Praise God for our healthy happy baby and his first steps

Pray for the ministry as we continue to walk by faith where the Lord leads
Pray for the new missionaries Mike and Shannan and all their preparations as they begin raising support
Pray for the teams that are coming and all the details involved with their short term trip
