July Newsletter '10

Greetings,

I believe that this July has more web posts for us than just about any other month. In fact there's so much that has happened this month, that we won't be able to fit all of it in this prayerletter! Some highlights however are our trip back the US and our home church making a trip to Eleuthera.

FBC Frisco in Eleuthera

This month we had the privilege of hosting a team from our Texas church, FBC Frisco. We routinely have many teams throughout the summer, but this is the first time we've had a team from FBC Frisco. Although the team was originally slated to be larger than it ended up being, it was the perfect size for us.

We had the best time with the Frisco team. It really felt more like having family visit than hosting a team. And because the numbers were small, we were able to spend more quality time with everyone. And we also got to celebrate the 4th of July with the Frisco team. It really was a special experience.

Even in the midst of VBS and construction there was plenty of time to talk, reconnect and just fellowship with some dear friends.

Back to America

Because the summer can get so strenuous and we really hit it right off the cusp of a heavy spring semester, it is important that we routinely get the opportunity to unplug from the ministry and reconnect with our churches and family. This reality has become all the more apparent to us this year, as we were refreshed with a summer trip back to Texas and Wisconsin.

There are simply not enough words to express the gratitude we have for our sending church FBC Frisco. They have supported us sacrificially, and upon our visit back, they once again received us with an outpouring of love and support. You will need to read my web article concerning our trip back to Frisco - between the time with our small group and reconnecting with loved ones, we have been abundantly blessed.

Our trip home to Wisconsin was also just what the doctor ordered. We spent 1 week relaxing with family. Everyone arranged their schedules to take time off so we could all be together as a family. Whether it was fishing, mini-golfing, reading, relaxing, and even speaking in church - we got our fill of R&R on our trip home.

This summer trip is more necessary than I've budgeted in the past, and we are extraordinarily grateful for the time we had with dear friends and family. We returned to the island recharged and renewed.

Update
Now that we're back, it is business as usual. We landed back in Eleuthera with a team already here, and yesterday as they left another team landed. I am working to prep for our new class beginning in September, and continuing to deepen my relationship with our present students and graduates. Emily and Micah are doing great, and Micah is learning new words every day (he totally understands everything we say, even if he doesn't act like he heard). We will be devoting our time singularly to investing ourselves in our students and continuing in the process of discipleship to the glory of our risen Savior.

Prayers and Praises

There is MUCH to be thankful for and we could list hundreds of praises; from the birth of our friends' twin girls, to the reception we received back in the US. The one praise I will list however, is thanks to God for the time to reconnect with family - it was priceless.

In addition to 1 praise, I only have 1 prayer request this month. Please be praying diligently for our new class beginning in James Cistern. Day 1 begins August 30th, so by the time you receive our next prayerletter, we will rejoice to see how the Lord has answered our prayers to produce the right size class, with the right students, ready to study God's Word together.
