Our friends Brad and Alicia got back today. Alicia had a baby this summer so they were in the States. It's fun to have them back, and we got to have dinner with them tonight. There little girl is soooo little! I can't believe that MIcah was that little not so long ago! It's crazy!
So there are no x-ray machines on the island, so Ryan is just hoping his finger gets better with time. He has it wrapped so it's straight. We're praying that it gets better.

Tonight I had the girls from my Bible Study to the Training Center to make pizza and dessert, and we watched Enchanted. I had fun getting to know them more. And, a huge crab got into the Training Center and was scurrying around! It was very funny! 10 girls and a crab...you can only imagine the chaos! It was funny!

Today was a not so good day. I spilled water and gatorade, I accidentally pushed two glass cups off the counter onto the floor, and we had a lot to do today so we were busy and tired from bitty not sleeping good at night. Also, Ryan broke his finger he thinks a few weeks ago and he had a headache. And tonight Micah was jumping in his horse and he pooped a huge poop!!!! All down his leg and onto the floor. When I picked him up I didn't realize he had done it and it got all over me too. It's kinda a funny story now.

Church was fun today. We went to a church here in the settlement we're in called Liberty Baptist. Our friend Wade preached a good sermon on Mary and Martha. It was good for me to hear, a reminder in the business of getting unpacked and everything else to slow down and abide in Christ and worship Him and study His Word.
The rest of the day we relaxed, did no work, for once. Our friends came over tonight for a while which was fun too! And we got to talk to Matt and Sukey over Skype! It was very fun! We miss our friends and family a lot!
It's late, and I'm tired...another day of work tomorrow...and another day to praise the Lord!

Today is Bitty's 4 month Birthday! Hooray! It's been a good day. We made pancakes in celebration of his birthday, but of course he didn't get to eat them. He did eat a whole bowl of banana rice cereal and 5 ounces of formula tonight though! He is growing! THe good, actually, the great news is that he slept longer last night. He slept for 6 hours in a row. We went to a softball game last night that our friends were playing in. And tonight they were supposed to play at 7 and at 8:30 one of the teams still wasn't there. That part of the culture is a little hard for us. But at the same time it's nice not to have to be bound by time like in America.
Ryan is going to join the James Cistern's (that's the settlement we live in) softball team. They're pretty good.
Micah did good today. He bounced in his favorite bouncy horse for a long time today. He loves it! The bugs were bad the last few days which made going out hard. We went "out to eat" yesterday. Out to eat here is going to a man named BIlly's yard for BBQ that he cooks on the grill. On Fridays and Saturdays he sells his food. It's very good! Since there aren't a whole lot of places to eat out here, it's a treat for us to go there on the weekends, and we love Billy and his wife Brenda.

We just got our internet back from a few days of not having it. Tropical Storm Fay has passed us and all we got, Praise the Lord, was the tail end of it with a few storms and a little wind and some high waves. The rain is much needed and delightful i have to say. Bitty has not been sleeping well at night, so last night we gave him rice cereal for the first time! It was very fun! His first food! Yesterday Ryan felt under the weather, so he slept for most of the day, but now he's better. Julie left today. We'll miss her!
Last night we had Bible study with the girls, and about 12 showed up. It was the last time Julie would teach, so from now on I'll be leading it. I'm excited!

Micah rolled over today for the first time! He was on his back and he flipped right onto his belly! I woke up with a terrible headache thismorning and Ryan took the baby to church and let me sleep. It went away finally and the rest o the day was great! I got some unpacking done, and tonight we went over to our friends Wade ad Tammy's house for dinner with a bunch of other people. They are good cooks too! They made conch fritters and other traditional Bahamian food - yummy! Barbeque and Bahamian Mac and Cheese are my favorite foods here! Conch fritters are good too!
Last night Julie and our friend Norlett came over, and Norlette has a little girl who is 2 years old (and the same size as Micah) and she and Micah were so cute together! TaShea would put her arm around Micah and hug him, it was just so cute!
We are praying that Tropical Storm Fay doesn't turn into a hurricane, and that it doesn't hit us!

We have been super busy this week unpacking. Still I feel we have a lot left! It's hard to get things done with Micah still. We do have wonderful help in our friend Julie! It's getting there little by little. Micah has started this week to kick himslef backwards. the other day Ryan was in the bedroom with him and I had laid Micah down on the bed and he was crying and had kicked himself almost the whole way to the edge! So from then on when we laid him down we make sure he's in his pack-n-play. But the problem with that is that he kicks his way into the corner of it and gets his head stuck! So we are having to watch him very carefully! He is also sooo close to turning over! And he's putting everything in his mouth now too! All this started this week! It's been a busy week for him!
Today we ran lots of errands all over the island. Ryan stoped at my request at a beach I had never been to for a few minutes. We drove the van down a very bumpy rode for a long time to get to it, and then we had to walk a little while, but boy was it worth it! I think sufer's beach is my new favorite beach! It's beautiful! There was a house up on one of the cliffs, and it made me think about how people always joke about this being paradise. It's beautiful, but I sure hope it's not what paradise is. When I think of paradise I think of heaven, and this is no where near it. It may be beautiful, but the people here live day to day, and they still have hurts and pain and have to deal with heat and bugs and storms and hurricanes. God's creation sure is beauitful, but I long for heaven all the more living here.

Today was an unpacking day, and tonight we had Bible study with the girls. Julie made a spaghetti dinner for the girls and we watched "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger." I think movies make things more real often times. It was impactful and I look forward to talking more about it with the girls.

Today we spent a good part of the day unpacking, but we still have a lot to go. We also went into Governor's Harbor to run errands and get the things we needed to get our residency.
Bitty is picking up his head really well now! When he's laying on his tummy he can lift it the whole way up! And when I give him a bath he has so much fun splashing in the water!

Last night we stayed for the first time in our new house! It's been storming and raining a lot lately, and the power has gone out several times each day this week. Today in church it stormed really bad. There was one lightning strike that scared us all, even the baby who is usually unshaken by storms.
The team left today, and in between church and the airport we were busy unpacking boxes. Our house is full of boxes still and it's pretty overwhelming at times.
One great bit of news....we get to stay on the island! Hooray and Praise the Lord! Another answered prayer. We saw the customs lady at the airport today and she told us that they approved that we can stay during our residency process.

We took the team to Harbor Island today. We hadn't been there in a while. It's just as hot. We walked around a while and ended up at Valentines to just rest a while in the breeze from the ocean. It was fun to take Bitty there but the poor little guy was so hot the whole time. We worked hard to make sure he stayed hydrated. He was a little more fussy than usual though. Also today our new and already dear to our hearts friends left the island. We spent this week getting to know the Fazeski family. We are hoping and praying that they will return full time to the island to work along side us soon.

I was going to keep Micah inside today in the cool, but last night we had a huge storm that took out our power and it didn't come back on until thisafternoon. There was one lightning bolt that made all our sockets spark, actually one right over Micah's head! he slept through it though. That one made our power go out, so the rest of the night was HOT! The lightning was brighter than I had ever seen! I had to cover my eyes with my pillow because I hurt my eyes! And the thunder shook our house! It stormed alot today too but the storms mostly stayed out to sea to the west of us. The thunder still shook our house though all afternoon! Ryan worked with the team today on a house and doing a VBS. Then Micah and me came up to the training center and we all tried to find box 27 of our boxes because it had the formula in it. We looked through all the boxes several times before Ryan finally found it. And tonight we took the team to a house here that has a pool and we all swam for a while. I even dove off the diving board! I was very proud! And Ryan hurt his fingers diving, but he did some awesome dives and flips. Pray that his fingers get better because he thinks he fractured one or broke it.

Our power went out last night for what seemed like forever! It was so very hot! Too hot to sleep, and poor Micah was sweating so much. Ryan spent hours fanning Micah and me, he's such a good husband! The power finally came back on, and we got a little sleep.
Good news! We spent the whole day in Governor's Harbor again, but this time we got our cars and our container! Hooray! Praise the Lord! We got our car lisenced and registrated, and the team helped us unload everything tonight. It's nice to have our things. We are out of baby wipes and formaula, so the container came just in time!

Today we had a loooong day. We spent the whole day trying to get our things from the dock (which we didn't succeed at) and paying bills and running errrands. It took us all day! The power kept going out, so the computers weren't working at the places we went, and poor Micah was hot and cranky. And the team that's here was going to npack our stuff today, but we didn't get it. When we got there thismorning the computers didn't work, and then in the afternoon when they did work, the people working there didn't feel like giving us our stuff, so we didn't get it.
But Bible study tonight with the girls went well! We studied God's mercy. and let me say, the Lord has been soooo very merciful to me in my life, every day

It's already august! That's amazing! Time has flown by! We have spent the last week busy doing lots! we spent the weekend spending time with the other staff members, and the interns. Ryan and i are both sunburned. Micah is worn out! He slept 9 hours last night. we woke up wondering if he was ok! He was fine though. He and I spent the day today at home resting (and I cleaned and did other chores). Ryan went up to the settlement of Bluff to church and announced that we will be doing a VBS this week. Then after church he went to the training center to get more work done, and tonight I went to the settlement of Hatchet Bay to Bay Fest. It was fun. I met a lady with a little baby. I find that now that I have a baby it's easy to meet people and talk to them if they have babies. It's a good conversation starter. Tomorrow is August Monday. It's a holiday here for their Emancipation Day and everyone takes the day off and goes to the beach. For us though tomorrow a team comes and the intern leaves, so things will be busy for us.
Our water works! Horray! We went to a Goombay Festival this weekend too. They dress up and play loud music. It's very fun! Maybe Ryan will put a picture on!
