When we walk out the door in the morning we here tons of tiny crickets, some of which jump out at us as we walk to our car. It's so wonderful! It feels like a little bit of the country in the midst of the huge city. on our way to work, we hit tons of potholes, which, I will say, does not make it easy to put on makeup in the car on the way to work. As we drive the sun rises and we see all different shades filling the sky in brilliant colors. We get to drive together to work a lot, which gives us time to talk and laugh and sometimes just keep one another awake. And then we get to my school, Ryan drops me off, and thus begins our busy day.

Today was such a great day! Tonight I worked at Chick-fil-a for the Back-to-school night. And the best part..Ryan was the cow! The little kids loved him so very much! They wouldn't leave his side! They all were hugging him! It was so great! He was such a good cow! But I do have to say that he got so very sweaty in that cow suit! You should have seen him when he was finished! It was very fun though! And today school was fun too! Teaching really is so fun! Watch the Video Clip HERE

Last night we went to Frisco. I went to a friend's house to scrapbook with some girls and Ryan came along so that I wouldn't have to drive myself at night so far in the rain. That was a blessing! It was an hour there and an hour back...much more fun with him there! Scrapbooking was very fun! It was most fun though just to fellowship with the girls. It was way worth the drive there and back!

One of my kindergarteners cut another kids hair with his scissors today....it was not funny at the time (well, it was a little, but I didn't think it would be too good laugh) but it's funny now! Today was a good day.

Lots of kids in the school seem to be getting sick, I'm praying that I won't. I refuse to miss school this early because we only have 3 paid days off for anything we have to miss for! So far I am healthy!

This weekend has been great! Not as restful as I would have hoped, but great. Friday night and Saturday I went with my friend Jennifer to the Women of Faith Conference in Dallas. It was great! there were great speakers and the music was awesome! Saturday night Ryan worked at a wedding doing the video for it, so he didn't get home until late. And today we had church, and then we stayed up in Frisco for the day and had a reception for our youth pastor who is leaving to go to another church. And tonight we went out to eat! We got a gift certificate from the wedding that Ryan did last night, so we used it. It's amazing how God provides even little things like gift certificates so that we can go on dates, and I got to go to Women of Faith for free! God provides everything we need! And so much more! He is so very good!

Good day today in Kindergarten, eccept for one thing.....one of the kids in K4 said the meanest thing to me! He said "your mommy doesn't love you!" How mean is that? If I were a Kindergartener and he said that to me I would cry!

Even though I have a lot of work for school that I could be doing tonight I decided not to bring school work home. My poor husband has had to put up with my exhausting week and our house has been a mess this week and I have been taking naps. So tonight I cleaned and spent time with him. I figure tomorrow I'll finish the work and it's more important to spend time with him. We got pizza and watched a movie. And then we went to our new neighbors' apartment and talked with them for a while. They are really nice. I'm excited to get to know them more.

Oh, another humorous story (that wasn't humorous at the time it happened). Yesterday during snack time I looked over and one of my kids was smashing grapes on his forehead! I laugh about it now to think about him doing that, but Ryan said he probably did that in Kindergarten too. He said "well you have to learn how grapes feel smashed on your forehead somehow!" I don't know if I agree......

It's storming! It's great! We love rain here! Today in Kindergarten we got to go outside! It was under a hundred in the morning! The bad part is that the air conditioning in my room at school is broken and it was super hot all day, but it was a pretty good day still. I think I finally am getting caught up on organizing everything, I even finished my "to do" list today! I love checking things off the list!

Second day of school.......crazy...but not as crazy as yesterday! The last few days have been exhausting! My new class is great so far. I really miss last years class, but it's fun to see them in the hallways and hear stories from the first grade teachers. This year I have 17 in my class all day.

They are fun. I really love teaching, even in the beginning when I am tired and stressed. It gets better every day. The thing I love about teaching is that my kids become my friends. I love them!

Yesterday after school we went to the store and bought cornmeal for plants because we have knats in our apartment. I spent the night last night repotting all of our plants (there are a lot!). And tonight after work I worked at Chick-fil-a until 9. Let me tell you.....long day! It will be better when school settles down to normal and I'm not so stressed and tired.

I am only working on Tuesday nights at CHick-fil-a for the Family nights. Ok, time for bed. Another long day tomorrow and I still have to write a newsletter tonight........

CHuch day today! For the first time in forever I got to sit and enjoy church. It was great! Ryan didn't have such a good day today. He left church discouraged, but tonight he went to pray for a man in our church who is in the hospital with cancer. He came home from there happier, and his day got better. PLease pray for the man, his name is Mike. Also pray for his family. It's hard to know what to pray for, but we are praying for healing, and that God will do a miracle, and we are trusting that He will.

Tomorrow is the first day of school for me! I'm excited! And a bit felling unprepared. Pray that it goes well!

Today has been wonderful! Rest! That's what we have been doing. We slept in, and took naps, and just relaxed! Ryan has a little break before school starts again so he is taking advantage of it. Last night was our neighbor's birthday! Grover turned 1 year old! Happy Birthday Grover! His party was fun!

What encouragement it is to us when we get mail from people, mail that is not junk mail from companies trying to take our money, but mail from our friends and family who love us! This week we got a couple checks in the mail from people who are supporting us in our mission work. It was so encouarging to know that people want to be involved in our life and ministry. Sometimes it's scary to think about how we will get to Eleuthera and pay for our day to day life when we get there, but everytime someone sends us a check in the mail, no matter how much it is, we are reminded that the Lord is faithful and will always provide for our needs. Thank you to everyone who supports us financially and to everyone who prays for us. You are a blessing to us! We're so glad that God put all of you in our lives.

This has been a crazy week! Ryan has been gone to Wisconsin and just got back late last night. While he was gone I was super busy with school. We had teacher orientation and tonight was Open House. Ryan had a great time in Wisconsin though! He got to build a shed, which I think is more of a barn, with his dad. He was certainly in his element. If he could he would do that everyday. And, for this next part keep in mind that nothing has ever broke in our apartment until now, while he was gone, first the kitchen sink clogged up (ask me about that later and I might tell you, it's a bit embarassing) and then we suddenly got knats in our apartment, and then the ceiling in our bathroom started leaking and there was a huge puddle in our bathroom! I had to keep calling maintanence and they probably thought I was really annoying! It's like RYan leaves and the apartment falls apart! I'm glad he's back! He and his dad made me some things for my classroom out of wood to and they're so great! I love them! They made me a shoe so that my kids can practice tying their shoes, and they made me a fish that I am going to use as a hall pass!

As I mentioned before, tonight was Open House at school. It was the best! I love my kids from last year so very much and I got to see a bunch of them and they gave me hugs! It was just so great! And my new class is wonderful too! I can't wait until school starts! I just love those kids! One of the kids in last years class wants to be a missionary when he grows us. I have a feeling that he will be!

What a splendid day it has been! It's been cloudy today, and it rained, which was a nice break. And we went to my classroom to organize a little bit today and then we went on a date! It was great! We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean and then we went to eat at Chillies. And we had gift cards for both places so we didn't have to spend money, which was wonderful! It's the best gift to get us! We had a wonderful time on our date. It was wonderful to get to talk and just spend time together! It's just been a good day that we got to spend together!

Today was my last day to work full-time at CHick-fil-a. I had a good day, except for when I spilled a milk shake all over! Yesterday I was grumpy at work, I think I was tired, b ut today was much better! I am really thankful that the Lord gave me that job! I will miss it I think. I am excited about school starting though. Tonight Ryan is at the Promise Keepers Conference. I'm glad he got to go. PK photo HERE

I have been bored all night though. I did get to talk to my parents though, which was fun! I miss them.

Well, my big news for hte day is that Ryan is finally shaving off his beard that he has been growing! Yeah! He's doing it right this minute! I can't wait until it's done, and he's cutting his hair too!

The past few days have been good. Last night I got to work for our Veggie Tales Night at Chick-fil-a! It was so very fun! We showed the new movie and there was an ice cream sundae bar and there were tons of kids! I am mean TONS of kids everywhere! I got to walk around and pass out stickers and talk to people who came in, and take pictures. It was so great! I love Family Night! And Ryan and our neighbors came too! I love it when they come!

NOTE: View Ryan's Transformation BEFORE / AFTER

It rained again today! It was great! Today work flew by! It was a great day! And tonight I got so much work on my classroom done for school! I cut out paper coconuts to hang on the wall. I made giant palm trees out of paper and decorated a whole wall in my classroom with palm trees. It looks good! Tomorrow I am going to spend the morning there doing more work. And then I get to work tomorrow night for Veggie Taled night at Chick-fil-a! I am very excited! We're showing the new Veggie Tales movie and having a ice cream sundae bar! I'm very excited about that! If you're in the area you should stop by for dinner!

I skipped church thismorning. I slept in and got work done around the house, and then I went to my school and did some work there, then I met Ryan in Frisco and we went to our friend's birthday party. It was fun! We played poker, which of course is a favorite of mine, even though I'm not good at it! We actually used to live at the house we went to for the party.

Ryan lived there for a year with Dan and another roommamte, and then Ryan and I lived there with Dan and Mike for the first week after we got married. We couldn't get into our apartment yet, so we stayed in the room where Ryan stayed for the week. It was kinda like our first home! Good memories! Dan got married after Ryan moved out, and now Ryan's old room is a Thomas the Train room for Dan's son.

Yesterday was a super fun day! We went out to eat with our friends to this Mongolian Grill. It was so cool! We got to eat with chop sticks! You go through a line and pick out what you want to eat and then they cook it for you on this big grill thing! And they flip the bowl and the food in the air and do fun tricks! It was fun to spend time with our friends! Then we came home and we all watched a movie.

Pray for my throat. My gland is swollen and I don't know why. I am not sick, but it is swollen and it hurts. I am going to go to the doctor next week.

Today was a long Saturday. I love Chick-fil-a, but working on a Saturday is not my favorite. But our neighbors (who we went out with last night) came today and I got to eat lunch with them, so that was a sunny spot in my day! And there was a message on the answering machine today from one of our dear freinds from Eleuthera and it made my day! His name is Leige, and he is so wonderful! Ryan got to talk to him for a while. I wish I was home when he called, but it was fun to hear his voice on the machine. We worked construction with him in Eleuthera every summer we were there. I'm pretty sure he knew a long time before we did that Ryan and I would get married.

Another normal day......but you know, we are really blessed! We have the best life. I was thinking today about all that God has given us. I love my job teaching and at Chick-fil-a! We have a wonderful church and wonderful friends. We have been blessed with a great apartment with wonderful people. God has always provided everything we need when we need it. We are both healthy and God has kept us safe. We don't deserve any of what we have been given. It's all by the Lord's grace. It blows my mind how much the Lord loves us that He would bless us so much!

My heart longs everyday to be in Eleuthera, but God has taught me that He has so much for me here until He brings us there.

We got McDonalds ice cream today. It's our favorite! Don't tell Chick-fil-a! We had McDonalds ice cream after our wedding when we drove away from the church before we went to our reception! What good memories!

Today I had the day off work, so I went into school and set up some of my classroom. Boy do I have a lot still to do before school starts! It's a little overwhelming! But fun! Thisafternoon I went grocery shopping and then I went to the dollar store with Gretta and the kids. It was so fun!

We had a little money when we got the register because they only took Discover Card and cash, which neither of us had. We asked them if they would keep our stuff for us until tomorrow, and they said they would. When we got back to the car, Gretta discovered that she accidentally stole some pepper! So I took the pepper back inside and apologized, then when I got back to the car, Gretta discovered that she did have cash afterall, so she went back in and paid for our stuff! I think the people that work there thought we were crazy! It was a fun adventure! I love spending time with them!

Tonight I made enchilladas, which is Ryan's favorite! I'm hoping that they will make his long night of homework a little more barable.
