Reflections with Family

Beyond the “official” capacity of our time back in the Bahamas, are the many family memories that we get to make. Since we left WHS in 2016, these annual trips back have been work-vacations, and it’s worth capturing the pricelessness of these moments shared with our family.

Usually it will only be me and Micah who arrive on the island for the first 2 weeks. Emily’s kindergarten schedule requires her and Sadie to finish up closer to the Thanksgiving before they’re able to join us. And during this time, Micah and I will clear the jungle back from our property, spend sports time throwing around the football, and playing rock, paper, scissors for who has to wash the dishes!

But life gets so much better once Emily and Sadie arrive! Emily is excellent at requiring us to revisit all the old “regular” spots for swimming, sunsets, and singing Christmas carols in the car. I am so thankful for quality time spent making these forever-memories with our kids. In many ways, Micah grew up in this culture, so it feels like returning home for him, and Sadie is learning all the fun adventures to be had in exploring together as a family.

My gratitude is extended to my Sagola church family for allowing me the time away for these 3 weeks of ministry and memories, and most of all I’m thankful to our Lord for His kindness both in allowing ministry to extend into the future, and for the treasure of sharing these moments with our family!
