March 31, 2010 Wednesday
Another beautiful day! Having my mom visit for the first time and see everything new makes me appreciate it here more. I need to take more time to watch the sunsets and the water.

I am officially sunkissed! Horray! Mom and I went to Harbor Island today with Micah! We had lots of fun looking at all the yachts (which mom counted 33 in all) and roosters, which were all over! We ate lunch at Valentines and then walked over to the Pink Sands Beach and played in the sand. Micah petted the horses! Those are the only horses here, so it was fun for him. It was a beautiful day!

Mom got to drive on the left for the first time today! She did a great job! We had to take all the vehicle to get registered, so we all had to drive. On the way back we stopped for ice cream!

It was a little rainy and windy today, so we took a nap too! And tonight my mom and I watched Bride Wars.

Today was AMAZING! One HUGE blessing that the Lord has given us is the settlement we live in. We have wonderful relationships with the people here, and we love being part of a community! Today, for the first time, all the churched in JC came together for a church service in unity. We started off with a parade of all the churches. The band played and everyone marched from one end of the settlement to the cork tree. At one moment, the band was playing and everyone was singing “When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!” That brought tears to my eyes! I think it brings the Lord such joy when His children live together in unity and worship Him, and I can’t wait to get to Heaven and all sing together there!

Happy Birthday to my mom!!!! It’s fun to have her here with us on her birthday!

Today was a CRAZY day! MFI brought groceries with us, so our living room and kitchen were filled with groceries that will hopefully last us a year. It’s always a tough job to put them all away and sort everything, but it was a lot easier with mom here!

We are having a Palm Sunday Settlement Wide Church Service tomorrow, and my job today was tomake banners for each Church. I made black banners and cut out white letters and I glued them on. It took a long time, but I’m done! Hooray! Again, it was so much easier with my mom here!

For mom’s birthday we went to Tapas. We celebrated with dinner and truffles! And I made a cake! Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!

Today was a busy day for us! We ran lots of errands, to the grocery store, Lord Byron’s the Office Store, and a few other places. It was fun with my mom though! This afternoon we all napped, I love naps!

Tonight C-Dash came to rap for the team that’s here. We ate dinner with the team too. I really like the Indian Rocks team! We love the fellowship especially with Ben and Jessica Futeran! It’s encouraging to have them here!

Mom and I and Bitty went to Spanish Wells today. We saw the manatee! She still hasn’t had her baby yet though, but it was very cool to look at her! We ate at Gap, and walked around for a while. I love the flowers in Spanish Wells! There are so many different kinds! Mom found a beautiful conch shell on the edge of the water too that she took. We had a fun afternoon!

Tonight for Bible Study with Sandy we watched “One Night with the King.”

This morning Ryan preached at Windermere, so my mom and I went too. After that mom and I and Bitty drove down to Rock Sound, visited the team who was pouring concrete diligently, and went to the Ocean Hole. Micah likes the fish in the Ocean Hole!

We went to Navy beach to walk around too for a while. Micah loves to run!

I spent the day cleaning today because my mom’s coming tomorrow! Hooray!!! We can’t wait for her to be here! We had dinner with the team. It rained all day so they ended up cleaning around the center instead of working in Rock Sound. It was nice to have a rainy day! Hopefully it will be sunny when my om gets here tomorrow though!

We went to church with the team in Rock Sound today. Ryan preached, and he did a great job! Or so I hear, I actually spent the whole time with Micah outside. We like that church, a lot of the students go there. After church we had a picnic lunch at the Ocean Hole, and drove back and Micah and I took naps. And tonight after dinner Ryan and I and Bitty went to Sky Beach because Kari’s Green Bay girls team is playing in the NCAA and they were supposed to be on ESPN2, but they weren’t on! We had fun though! And they won! So hopefully we’ll get to see them next time!

The team got here today! It’s the team from Indian Rocks. We love this team, they come every year! It’s been fun to talk to our friends Jessica and Ben too! A bunch of stuff came on MFI too, everything but our groceries! I guess we’ll have a few more weeks of Ramen =)

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We had no power half the night and half the day today. This morning we woke up early and went to Windermere and Ryan preached. During that time I pretty much chase Micah around the whole time. When we got back into the car I put Micah’s sippy on the roof and accidentally forgot it, when we drove off we opened the sun roof and the sippy came and hit me on the head! I thought at first it was Micah throwing it at me! It was funny!

I ran down to the cork tree this afternoon while Micah napped. Well, I ran half the way at least and walked the other half. When I got back the house was quiet, it was very nice to have a little peace. Micah’s nap lasted a long time, and I got to talk to Stephanie on the phone too. Tonight we took a family walk and got eaten by mosquitos. It was a nice walk though. Tonight I finished making the last of my curtains and pillows. I’m glad to have that completely finished.

This morning we didn’t have any juice, and Micah wanted some. I gave him water, but he didn’t want that. I told him before I gave it to him “Do not throw your sippy in the floor”. First thing he did….threw it on the floor, because he wanted juice, not water. This began an hour of a huge fit. He REFUSED to pick up his sippy and put it on the table. I spanked him like 10 times, them ended up putting him in his pack “n” play, bringing him out every few minutes to give him the opportunity to pick up his sippy. Instead, each time he kicked his sippy and screamed face down on the floor. He screamed for an hour, actually 58 minutes to be precise. Finally, he picked it up and went on with his day. I was worn out by then! Being a mommy is hard sometimes! It’s worth it though! He’s so wonderful!

So Ryan and I didn’t know that it was daylight savings time change today. We slept in until almost 10:00, which was great! Micah was so tired! I love when he sleeps in! Church today didn’t start until 3:00, but it was in Wymsess Bight, so we left at 2:00. Or so we thought….it was actually 3:00 because of the time change. The church service was actually great though. Micah did pretty good for the whole 2 ½ hours. We didn’t discover until the way home that it was an hour later and we actually showed up an hour late. Several of the students were there and it was great to see them in their ministries. The drive was nice too, it was like a road trip!

Today Micah and I stayed in our jammies all day. Ryan rested too, but for him resting is studying more. We’re so different! =) We spent some fun family time together too. And Wade and Tammy and the family came over tonight for a while too. We love them! Micah has so much fun playing with them too!

I have to say that I am so thankful for the cooler weather. We have had perfect weather for the whole “winter” season so far. It’s wonderful! March is windy too, which is great! Last night there were some thunderstorms. I love thunderstorms here!

Today was a great day! Wade and Tammy watched Micah tonight while I went to class with Ryan. It was the last day of the class, so they played Jeopardy for review. It was very fun! Then after the class Ryan took me to Tapas for a date. I used my date card that Ryan gave me when we first started dating =) We had a great time together and talked for a long time about how blessed we are! God is so good to us!

Today Micah finished his very first puzzle all by himself! We haven’t done puzzles for a while. Last time we tried he was too little and didn’t grasp the concept, but today he finished his whole truck puzzle by himself!

I have been thinking a lot lately about home. By home I mean Heaven. We’re not home yet. I have heard the song “Temporary Home” a lot lately on the radio, and every time it makes me cry. That song hits me on a lot of levels. I am realizing more and more that this is not our home, and I’m looking more and more forward to Heaven. I am also learning to cherish the gifts the Lord has given me here more. Right now Micah is playing with his trucks, with a cute little snot bubble coming out of his button nose. I love him so much!

Tonight I met for Bible study with my girl and it was so great! I love teaching her about God’s Word! It’s so great to be able to be there when she learns things for the first time that I have known for so long. It’s a great refresher for me as a reminder of who I am in Christ.

I baked 6 cakes today for a friend. I love making cakes! Also, there are lots of ants in our house, and I am losing the battle against them. I fall more and more behind every day.
Last night I finished making lots of curtains. I’m so glad to have them done!

I was eating a bowl of salad for lunch on the couch, and Micah came over and wanted some, so I shared. But he soon got sick of waiting for me to feed him, so he walked over to the kitchen, opened the silverware drawer, and got out his little fork, came right back over, climbed back on the couch, and started eating the salad with his own fork. It was like he was a grownup! Of course he dropped lots of salad on me, so I got him his own bowl. When I was done I started washing the dishes, and soon Micah came over, put his bowl in the sink, opened the drawer, and put his dirty fork right back where he found it. It was very cute! He thought he was such a big boy!

Ryan has been working so hard this week studying and teaching in Rock Sound! He’s feeling better though, so that’s good. He loves teaching, but this class is a hard class to teach, and his poor is working overtime! I’m so proud of him though for having such a heart for God’s Word and teaching it.

Poor Micah has had a super runny nose all day. He comes up to me wanting me to wipe his nose all day! I have to admit that I love wiping his little snotty nose! He’s so precious! I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Today was a fun day! We started out our day going to get the mail. I almost ran over a rooster in Gregory Town…again! Silly roosters! Micah loves them! Maybe someday we’ll get one as a pet.
At the airport the pilot took us to see the plane and let Micah sit in the cockpit and pretend to fly the plane. He had sooo much fun! I think he’s going to be a pilot some day! There was lots of mail, mostly books for us, but there was also a birthday package for me from Leia! It was so great! She sent a movie and some nuts! That was actually a huge blessing because I was going to go to the grocery store on my way back and buy nuts (which are $24). And on the way back there was a truck that had the words “He’s Faithful” on the windshield. I know it doesn’t sound like a big thing, but getting nuts in the mail when I was going to have to spend my birthday money on them was a blessing to me and reminded me of the Lord’s faithfulness in providing for us.

On the way home Micah had a banana and got his fingers sticky from it, and he held up his fingers the whole way home because I didn’t have anything to clean them with. He has started to not want his fingers to be yucky anymore, so he wants me to wipe them, where until a week ago, he would scream when I would try to clean him up. He’s growing up =(

I cleaned out the cars while Micah slept this afternoon, and then Tammy came over and we talked a while and Micah and I and she and Waydania danced! It was very fun!

Micah slept until 10:30 this morning! He’s still not feeling too good. His poor little nose is a little runny too. He practiced drinking from a normal cup today. He loves to do that, and he’s pretty good at it! He also had lots of fun today lining up his cars on the gate outside Ryan’s office, from biggest to smallest. He’s good at lining up things!

Micah has been taking later longer naps and going to bed later, at 7, so we are going to try to continue this somewhat schedule through team season.

Today the team left. It’s sad to see teams leave! This team was great!

We went on a family date tonight for cheeseburgers and ice cream. I love family dates! Ryan and I were able to have a great conversation on the car ride there, and Micah had lots of fun riding in the back seat of the truck without his car seat.

Micah has started a new game that we call “little sneak”. He tiptoes as quietly as possible up to you and pounces! It’s soooooo fun! We pretend we don’t know he’s coming and he’s super quiet. Just so great!

Today was a fun day for us! Micah and I went with the team to Harbor Island. We walked around then went to Coral Sands for lunch. Micah ate a lemon wedge and LOVED it! He actually started crying every time I tried to take it away! He’s just like his mommy =)

After Harbor island we went to Preachers Cave, but by the time we got ther Micah was fast asleep so I stayed in the van with him while the team explored. After that we went to Pam’s, and he woke up along the way, so we went in and talked to her for a while. Micah was playing with a stuffed octopus that he thought was the best thing ever! Pam gave it to him to keep. She’s so great! We had so much fun with Micah playing with the octopus all the way home, and now he carries is around with him. We had dinner with the team and then went back home and went to bed, exhausted! It was a good day!

Poor Bitty is not feeling good. He slept today until 9:00 then took a 3 hour nap this afternoon. Ryan is still not feeling too good either. My boys are sick! It’s very sad!

After Micah’s nap today we went with the team to Point for an “Art show” which was really a second home owners thing. We had fun though and I got to meet the lady who wrote the Bush Medicine Book that Ryan got me for my birthday and she had lots of the things there to try so I got to try some. The bush is very tasty!

We ate dinner with the team tonight, then came up to put Bitty to bed. We were both exhausted. I actually forgot to pray with him at first. Every night after we read we pray together holding hands. I forgot and started to walk away, and he laid there with his little hands up for me to take so we can pray. He didn’t forget. It was the most precious thing!

Well, today started out not so good because I didn’t get to sleep again! I hate not being able to sleep! But, it ended well. Ryan was at class, and Micah and I were down at the Center eating dinner with the team and the power went off! We had fun though eating dinner by candle light, and then when the electricity came on for a few minutes, we came back up to our house, then the power went back off! When we were down at the Center though Micah was very scared of the storm and the power going out. He refused to be anywhere but on my lap or in my arms, I would put him down and he would cry and cling to me. I have to say though that while I never want him to be scared, I loved that he wanted to be with me! When we got back to our house I gave Micah his own flashlight to hold, and he had so much fun walking around with it! He forgot he was scared! We cuddled in our bed and watched a “Enchanted” on the laptop together. It was such a precious cuddle time for us! I had the most fun watching Micah react to the movie! He laughed so hard at the animals! He just cracked up at the chipmunk! He thought it was so funny! And when the animals we cleaning up the apartment he thought it was so very funny! It was fun! After a while the power came back on and I put him to bed (way after his bed time). I sorta hope the power goes out again tonight =)

Ryan got home late last night after class, and he’s not feeling well. I think he’s getting a cold.

March is going so slow! =) It’s sad that February is not here anymore! This has been the coldest winter here! We’ve been wearing long sleeves since we got back from Christmas! It’s been GREAT!

Micah and I took a walk down to the clinic where the team is working this morning, and we visited our friends around the settlement. And tonight we had dinner with the team.
I have not been able to sleep for a few nights, I hate not being able to sleep! Micah is having trouble sleeping during the day too, which makes it impossible for me to nap. It’s so frustrating!
