We went to Global for church today with the team. I love the worship at that church! Of course, with Micah it’s hard to pay attention to anything else, but I still like going to that church! Micah and I ended up leaving when the preaching started. He was too tired and cranky. We came home and took naps and then went and hung out with the team for dinner time. I like this team! Small teams make it easy to get to know people better. MIcah is having lots of fun playing with everyone too!

The team from Roswell got here today. There are 6 people on the team. We like having teams from their church! I love having teams here! Except tonight we were planning on having dinner with them and Micah threw a major fit and we had to leave. He missed his nap, and it was past his bed time. Poor little guy!

It’s my 28th birthday today! I had a great day! RYan let me sleep in a little this morning, and then I got to open my presents! For lunch we had Billy’s, and then in the afternoon we went as a family for our favorite ice cream, then after Micah went to bed we made a pizza and watched TV together. It was a fun day!

Micah had fun on our ice cream trip! But as he sat in his car seat he was shining his teeth with his shoe and making a squeeky noise! It was very funny! He was such a good boy on my birthday!

Micah and I went to Spanish Wells today to get Tag groomed. And we got to see the manatee that has been living there by the dock! It’s sooooo cool! It’s huge! And it’s about to have a baby anytime!

Also tonight I got to start a Bible study with a girl here and I’m super excited! It’s so exciting to watch the Lord work!

I am very proud to announce that my little baby went poppies on the potty today for the first time! He came and told me himself that he had to go (well, he pointed at least and tried to tell me) so I took him to sit on the potty and he had already gone a little, but then he went the rest on the potty! Hooray! We’re not officially trying to potty train him yet though. I’m proud of him!!!

I have been sad today. My friend is getting married in April in Florida and I can’t go. It’s so sad for me to not be able to see my friends, and it’s even sadder that they will be in Florida and I can’t go! I think I have island fever right now. I feel like I need to go somewhere, but there’s nowhere to go.

Micah is 22 months old today! We went down to the Training Center today and all played on the basketball court together for a while this afternoon. It was fun! And it was a good break for Ryan in the middle of his work.

Tonight around 11 we woke up Bitty to talk to Kari on the phone, and he and Ryan had fun playing the guitar and banjo together. It was very cute! I think Micah will be a musician someday!

Today was a busy day for me and Bitty. We went grocery shopping, did laundry, cleaned his room and our room, swept up all the spiders in the house, made a dinner for all of us, colored a picture for Ryan, baked bread, and organized pictures! I finished everything on my list! And Tammy came over tonight which was fun too! Ryan went to the Town Hall meeting tonight. We love living in the settlement we live in! It’s so great to be part of the community! It’s a blessing!

Ryan preached in Hatchett Bay this morning. He did a great job, but Micah and I had a rough morning. He threw fits the entire morning! From the time he woke up to the afternoon was fits fits fits! He screams so loud and turns his body limp if you are trying to pick him up, and completely stiff if you are trying to hold him! Oh, goodness! This is not good!

We all took naps after church, and tonight we were watching “Confessions of a Shoppaholic” and there was a part where the girl was crying, and Micah felt so bad for her, he stopped playing and went “oohhh…” in the saddest most compassionate little voice. It was so precious!

Today was a fun day! I happened to be online when my friend Selma wrote that she was making souse. I jokingly said I was coming over, and she actually invited me! So Micah and I went over there and another lady came with her little girl too, and we hung out for a while and the kids played. Micah had so much fun playing with her little boy and the girl! Her souse was great! I had been wanting chicken noodle soup every day this week and never had the chance to make it, so the souse hit the spot! And it was fun to hang out over there! Then Micah and I came home and took a nap (I was finally able to sleep!) and then I had about a million dishes to do. It was a fun day!

Today was pretty normal. Our internet was out the whole day though. And our electricity went out for a while. It gave us a little extra time to spend as a family before Ryan started working though which was nice! Micah LOVES to play with Ryan! And we have family cuddle time a lot! Tonight Ryan had a meeting at the Center, and I am attempting to go to bed, although I still cannot sleep!!!

For some reason I have not been able to sleep! It’s driving me crazy! I hate not being able to sleep!

Besides not being able to sleep though, today was a fun day. After Ryan finished working on everything we went to James Point and walked all the way around the bay. It was super cold, and Micah was riding on Ryan’s shoulders with Ryan’s huge sweatshirt on. It was cute! I found two treasures, urchins, one pink and yellow, and one green. They are very pretty! We had such a fun time! I’m so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with such an amazing family!

This morning Micah and I went to North to pick up our mail. We got mostly lots of boxes of books for the students, but there was one birthday present for me that I wasn’t allowed to see. We had a fun trip up there though and we went to the grocery store. Then this afternoon we went to Burrows for some Soy Milk for Ryan. Micah’s diaper rash is getting better.

Happy Valentines Day! I love Valentines Day! Ryan preached on Psalm 103 this morning at a church in Point. That is “our” passage, which made it more special for us today. Micah did pretty good most of the time in church, then he threw a fit and I had to take him out. But after church they had a big lunch for everyone, complete with all the Bahamian fixings. And then we went around to collect boxes to send to Haiti. We got home around 4, Micah slept the whole way home, it was very precious. And we spent the evening relaxing together. I am very blessed to have a life full of love! I’m so thankful for Ryan. We were talking today about when we got engaged, five years ago. I’m so glad I said yes! Ryan gave me a Bible that night that had “Emily Flunker” engraved on it. It was the most special gift he could have given me! The ring was great too! =)

We had our Valentine’s Day Eve Celebration today because tomorrow will be a busy day for us. Ryan surprised me tonight by going to get a pizza for dinner. And then all throughout the evening he brought out gifts that he had got for me! He got me a little teddy bear (which Micah loves) with some candy, and the floppy hat that I have wanted for a long time! I love the floppy hat! Ryan is the best husband! Tomorrow is the five year anniversary of when we got engaged! The Lord has blessed us in ways we could not even imagine in the last five years! We had a special Valentines Eve together today! I made Ryan an apple pie for his Valentine!

I was tired today! but Bitty and i had a fun morning. The weather was PERFECT! It’s like the weather I imagine heaven to have! It was sunny, and warm, but there was the perfect cool breeze! We played out on our porch, then I sat in a chair and soaked up the sun for a while. I love our porch! It’s perfect for Micah and Tag to run and play while I can sit and relax, or play with them =)

We took naps this afternoon, and then we went grocery shopping. We got to see Leige, or as he’s come to be known by Micah, Grandpa Leige. It was fun to catch up with him!

Today was a pretty normal day, horray! Tonight we went over to Wade and Tammy’s to visit. We were all supposed to get together yesterday, but that didn’t happen. It was fun to visit with them!

I have started to read to Micah at night before bed. He FINALLY will sit and let me read to him without shutting the book or trying to get away or ripping the book! I have been reding to him for about a week, and I love it! I give him a bath, he brushes his teeth by himself, them we read a Bible book and his favorite book “I Love You Through and Through”. And then we pray and I put him to bed. For the last few days after I read he hugs me for a few minutes. It’s the most precious! He’s the best little boy!

Tonight Ryan and i decided that we wanted pizza and ice cream at 9:00. so i went to East and Final and bought little pizzas that you heat in the oven, and Klondike bars. We had a fun evening together!

So, someone finally came to help the camp about 7 hours later, so they now have electricity and the fire is out. We spent the whole day battling the sewage though. We didn’t have water all night. Wade came thisafternoon and helped unclog our septic. The problem was, they only thought they got it all, and I cleaned up the towels, started them in the laundry, and bleached and mopped and cleaned the bathrooms…..and then it backed up again!!!! So just after I cleaned it backed up from our toilets and showers!!! Sooooo frustrating, let me tell you! Ryan went out and unclogged the rest of it for real this time. And I bleached and mopped and cleaned everything, again. And that was our day. Awesome….

I do have to praise the Lord though for allowing us to fix it. We take things like that for granted a lot. I am thankful for toilets that flush and water that runs!

Oh, and the Super Bowl was tonight. The Saints won.

What a whirl wind of a day! We were busy all day getting ready for tonight’s alumni conference at the Training Center. It turns out it’s not so easy to set up and decorate with Micah around, and baloons and wind don’t mix! I got very frustrated at both of these things! We finally finished though and went up to our house, and the sewage backed up through our toilets and showers!!! It was a mess!!! This was about an hour before the conference was starting too! So at that moment all we could do is put towels down to soak up the water. I took Micah to Todd and LaDonna’s house early, and they babysat him. The conference was GREAT though! We had between 35 and 40 people, and Billy cooked and it was a great evening. They kicked off the year of alumni small groups.

Another thing, our power went out in the morning….well, when we picked Micah back up at night, the camp still did not have power! And they found out that one of the telephone poles was on fire, so that’s why their power was still out! They tried to call for help , because if it burned down more it could set the bush and the camp on fire and they would lose electricity, cable, everything, for a long time! They called the phone company, who was closed, and they called the police station, but all the police were playing basketball in JC and were off duty so they wouldn’t help. They tried calling other people and finally got ahold of someone, we’ll see if they actually come help. You are pretty much screwed if you have an emergency here!!! One of our friends thought she was having her baby a few weeks ago in the middle of the night and she called the police and there was only an answering machine! So, we need to keep praying that we don’t have an emergency!

I made a second batch of my soup today! Me and Bitty went into Governor’s today and went to the Agricultural Festival. I am going to buy a lime tree, and someday I’m going to buy a goat! Bitty had fun running around and I had fun talking to people. Although Wade and Tammy forgot to tell me that you aren’t supposed to walk in front of the dignitaries, so I got in trouble for that when Micah ran in front of them! I’m pretty sure I offended them..ooops!

Today was the BEST day! Bitty and I went to the airport to pick up the mail at 9:00. It turned out that the plane wasn’t coming until 10:00, so we went to the grocery store, and they had yellow duct tape there! This wouldn’t normally make me so excited, but the other day I went to three different places looking for yellow duct tape and couldn’t find it anywhere! Ryan needs it to make a sign for our Community Haiti Relief Project. Praise the Lord that the plane was late! I would have never gone to the store and found it! I wasn’t even looking! Well, when the plane got there we had lots of packages! It was like Christmas! My mom and Ryan’s mom sent some things we had left at Christmas time, and we got some cheesy bunnies for Micah, and some smelly stuff for Ryan. And Leia sent us a package too full of great treats! And I got a birthday package from my Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan that i can’t open until my birthday – that will be hard! It was so great to get mail! It always makes us feel so loved! It’s hard to be away from the people we love!

I also got to go to the camp and talk to our friends there for a while. We’ve been so busy since Christmas that we haven’t got to spend much time with them.

Ryan’s mom sent us some chicken base, so after lunch Bitty and I went back up to the North grocery store and got ingredients to make Zuppa Soup! I have been waiting forever to make it! The ingredients costed about $30, so I probably won’t make it very often! But it turned out great! It was the first soup i had made from scratch!

Tonight Waden came over and Ryan tutored him for his Bible class.

Poor Ryan was sick all night long last night! He was miserable! I was up on and off with him too. He spent most of today in bed recovering. He’s feeling a little better now but isn’t wanting to eat much of anything still. I went to Governor’s and got him some sherbet. That’s all he ate today. Bitty and I stayed home with him today to take care of him.

Today did not start out good! For some reason my sweet little boy was out of control crazy this morning! He was getting into everything (more than normal) and throwing things in anger and I had to spank him lots of times, and finally I ended up putting him in his crib for a while until he could calm down and obey. It’s hard to be little and have to learn so many lessons! We even took a walk along the beach, but he had trouble obeying and we had to come back. He spent a while face down on the floor screaming and flaling his arms. It was just a rough morning! We took an early nap though and the afternoon was better. We went to the grocery store and we took Tag to the school to see the kids and teachers. Micah and Tag both had fun at school!

We have two new pets! There has beena crab that has been hanging out in our yard, and we decided that he’s a pet now! It’s fun to have him around out there. And today on the beach i found three tiny shells that are so pretty, so I brought them home and put them on the counter. Later I noticed that one was missing, butI assumed that Micah took it. i later found it on the floor while I was sweeping, and i put it on the shelf again. And later Ryan and i were sitting in the living room and we heard something drop. I didn’t pay too much attention, but a few minutes later we saw a crab crawling across the floor in front of us! The shell had a crab in it! It’s a very cute little crab, so we named it Tipsy and it’s crawling around our house now.

Ryan spent the whole day driving around the island visiting students and alumni talking to them about a conference we’re havig Saturday.

I didn’t even realize it was Groundhog’s Day until half way through the day! Bitty and I had a fun day! We went up North to the grocery store, then we went to school and visited the kids and tecahers for a while. They were asking about Groundhogs Day, to them it sounded sliiy =) I have to say it is very silly! I like silly things though! Ryan went all over the island today from up South to down North (that’s what they say here) passing out invitations to the alumni conference we’re having Saturday. He’s had a very busy day!

I miss our small group from Texas. I wish I could be sitting around talking to them all right now. I love it that we’re still part of the group though even though we don’t live there anymore. I pray that the Lord will bring us back together soon!

Today was a pretty normal day for me and Micah. We did however go to the driftwood beaches and get some driftwood that I am going to turn into a Valentine’s Day decoration. It wass fun to walk along the beaches with him. At the one on the Atlantic side, the waves were HUGE, and Micah was just in awe of them! He was also frightened by them and kept his distance, which I was glad for. I love it that he’s at the age where I can not have to worry about him as much and i can let him wonder close to me without checking to see if he’s put something in his mouth every second. We had lots of fun playing today too. We played in his tent, and we played with a ball for a long time. And, he’s learning the color green!

Ryan worked at the Training Center and around talking to people the whole day, and then tonight he had a meeting with leaders of churches in our settlement. They are starting a community wide church ministry group, which is very exciting!!! They are uniting all the churches in our settlement to work together to do ministry here and even in other countries! Ryan has several roles and they are starting with a ministry of doing a fund raiser for a small island close to Haiti that has suffered from the earthquake but has been forgotten. It’s so exciting for us to be able to be a part of this new team in our settlement! I’m excited to see where the Lord takes it!
