A lot of people still don’t have electricity. We are blessed at least with a generator for our fridge a fans at night, but a lot of people don’t even have that. We had Ms Gibson over for dinner tonight. It was great to fellowship with her. And Monday we had our neighbors and other friends over for pizza and poker. Dale won, but we had a fun night! And of course Micah got to play with his friends again at dinner so he loved every minute of it!

Micah got his first wasp sting. It stung him on his eyebrow. It was so sad!!!
Micah hasn’t been taking naps the last few days. But we are trying for a 7 o’clock bed time.

So the storm blew away all the flowers, which made Micah very sad because he doesn’t have any flowers to pick for me. But it’s also sad because the poor hummingbirds don’t’ have any food. I like my little humming birds outside my window because they remind me of my mom, so I made makeshift hummingbird feeders, and so far they are working good!

Hurricane Irene came through the 24-25th. It was a category 3-4, and we were straight in it’s path. We huddled in the office for the long night. Micah laid under the desk and slept the whole time until about 6 in the morning when the eye of the storm went through. I listened to my ipod most of the time. I love how the Lord puts certain songs in my life at the right time. One song on my list was “Let the Waters Rise” it talks about how God is with us in the eye of the storm and the calm of the sea, and how He has been faithful before and He will be faithful again. I was very fearful until about 3 in the morning. Then all of a sudden it was like I could tell that someone was praying for me, and the peace of the Lord overwhelmed me. The worst part of the storm came after that, but it wasn’t so bad while I prayed and listened to praise music.

The cleanup began when the storm ended. Our house is ok, just some gutters down. But the girls dorm mom’s roof was destroyed, and some shingles came off the boys dorm, and half the shed is gone, and there’s other random damage. Micah helped clean up tree branches. He’s very strong! He would lift a branch then say “Look Mommy! I’m carrying a big tree! I’m strong like Daddy!” Ryan has been working on fixing the roof of the dorm mom, and today we went into Governors to the airport. There was a plane that had blew upside down and onto the side street to the airport! Crazy! Micah has been having fun running all around campus while we clean up! Poor Ryan though got stung by wasps four times the day after the storm! He knocked down a nest in the morning and I think they chased him all day.

We had dinner with our neighbors and another couple tonight. They made barracuda so Ryan and Micah had some for the first time. They have a little girl Micah’s age and a little boy and Micah had lots of fun playing with them!

A “sting” got in our house today again, and Micah and I went on a search to kill it. My weapon – a shoe. Micah’s weapon – a baster.

Micah swam by himself today for the first time!!!! I’m so very proud of him! We went to Sky Beach today and tried the arm swimmies on Micah again. Until now he would cling to me and not let go. He was terrified, but today he let go, and he swam by himself! He did a great job kicking! He was proud to show Ryan that he could swim by himself! He’s a great little fishy!

He wanted to go outside today and I asked him what he was going to do outside. He said “I am going to look up some chickens and some mangos and some piggies outside!” It was very cute!

Micah has had lots of trouble staying in bed at night. He gets up and either plays in his room or he comes out. One night I came out into the living room and he was asleep on the couch!

There is a cell tower near the entrance to Windermere and we use it as a landmark. I pointed it out to Micah. He thought it was a real tower and evidently he thinks there is a princess in every tower so he asked “but Mama, where is the princess?”

I made conch fritters from scratch for the first time! There is a man in Savannah Sound who sold me some de-shelled conch and I pounded it out and cut it up and made fritters! They turned out good! It was a huge batch, and it took a few tries to get the right taster, but they were great in the end!

While the conch fritters turned out great, I also made banana cookies that did not turn out so great. I have been trying healthy cookie recipes, and normally Micah loves any cookies, but these both Ryan and Micah spit out. It was sad! But a little funny too. I suppose I won’t make those again!

Micah calls wasps “stings”. They get in the house all the time and he screams “sting! Sting”! It’s funny!

Today was a sad day. We had a great visit with Kari, but she had to leave for Ohio today. Micah was mad at her I think at the airport. He just cuddled up to me and refused to look at her until she was boarding the plane. I think he realized at that moment that this was his only chance to say goodbye and he went and gave her a big hug. He misses her a lot already!

This morning Ryan preached at the Brethren Church in Point. Micah lasted until the last 10 minutes, but it was a struggle! Ryan did a great job preaching though! After church we headed to Ten Bay for some swimming. The water was rough and deep for that beach. We had fun though. Micah played in the raft a lot, and he found some friends to play with, and of course he had a great time with Kari! I met some ladies from Point and had a great time talking with them too.

After the beach we went to Tippys for dinner. Speaking of Tippys, Micah named his big brown bear Tippy! And his other bear and his little brown and while dog are named Marx and Marx =) It’s cute!

We had a fun last day with Kari! Micah sure is going to miss her!!! We will miss her too!

Also, I love that we have a goat, which Micah named Fred, and pigs and chickens! The chickens and pigs have babies, which are really cute!

Tropical Storm Emily, well, the remains of the storm anyways, came through last night and today. We had lots of fun playing in the rain though! We are praising the Lord for keeping us safe in the storm! It turned out to be a good storm! Just enough wind and rain to play in!

We had lobster and coconut ice cream today! We called it our storm food! Tropical Storm Emily is supposed to come tonight, but we’re glad it’s only a depression now! That sounds funny, to say a depression is coming =) Ryan and Kari went to the beach today and to run errands. They said there was big waves on the Atlantic! They had fun!

We also picked up our stuff from Missionary Flights today at the airport. It’s such a blessing when they fly in! We got lots of supplies, including a generator and a washing machine! Yeah! And, this is the first time in three years that we have a washing machine in our house!! I’m very excited about that!

We went on an adventure today! We went to see the pigs, which are really funny! I love it that we have pigs! Then we followed the path, the long path, to the beach behind the school and walked back. It was a fun family adventure!

After our adventure my friend Rhonda came over. We are starting to study Esther together. I’m really excited about it!

Today was interesting. It turned out to be good though! It was one of those days when I am reminded how much I love how the Lord takes what we think is a bad situation and turns it into a good one! Me and Bitty went into JC today to visit friends, and our van broke down. It is a holiday too, so they were having cookouts on the beach and most places were closed. The guy how fixes our car was there though, and while he fixed it I got to visit great friends, and it was done in less than two hours! And, it was cheap! It was a huge blessing! Then, tonight, the power went out for like 4 hours. It was hot and muggy, but, I went outside, and the stars were AMAZING!!!!! It’s funny how it takes a power outage for us to take a minute to just look at the great sky the Lord has painted for us! The stars were so bright, and there were so many of them! It was just amazing! God is so awesome!!!!!
