Classes all day today!  I filled in for one of Ryan’s classes, and had a full class at one point with grade 5, 6, and 7 for computer.  I am happy to report that I gave out 5 detentions in the last 2 days!  I am working on tough love.  I want to make everyone happy too much of the time, and that’s the opposite of what these kids need.  The Lord is teaching me so much!

Ryan made it to Wisconsin and is having a great time!  We miss him though!

Sad day today.  Ryan left for Wisconsin for his dad’s retirement party/family reunion.  he made it safely to florida where he will have to stay the night and travel more tomorrow.  We miss him already!    But I have to say that even though it is sad to not have him here, I had a pretty good day!  My friends Michele and Avis came over tonight and hung out for a while.  We had a great time!

Today was a super long day for Ryan.  Some kid brought drugs to school and sold them and it was a big mess!  Even though Ryan didn’t even get to eat all day until 7:30 at night, he sorta had a fun time playing good cop/bad cop I think.  (at least until they called the real cops)  The whole day was crazy.  It made me glad that we are here though.  There are so many kids on this island that need the Lord so badly!

I love winter.  I love the snow.  But I also love spring, because you really get to see the glory of the Lord shine through as He changes everything that was dead and makes it spring to life again in beautiful colors.  I miss that here in Eleuthera.  But I discovered something Friday.  While we were driving to school, Micah shouted out “Look Mommy – the trees are green again!”  I unfortunately hadn’t even noticed, but he did.  After the hurricane all the trees were burnt, and all the flowers were gone.  But finally, the trees were green again!  And the flowers were back!  It dawned on me that it’s not only winter in nature that the Lord uses to demonstrate in a tiny way how He changes death to life.  We may not have winter, but hurricanes are a beautiful picture of God’s redemption!

On a more funny note, Micah pushed all the buttons on our microwave today, and I of course made him stop, but I never looked at it until later.  When I came back to the microwave, it said “child” on the display screen!  It apparently knew that a child was playing with it and froze up and said “child”.  I though that was so funny!

I love feeding the pigs!  Sometimes Micah and I take a walk together to feed them and sometimes I go myself.  It’s a nice little walk!  School is going well.  I am frantically trying to get organized still.  It may take a few weeks.  I love teaching though!  It works out well with Micah in school three days a week for me to teach some classes on those days.

I love it when Micah says super cute things that make us laugh out loud!  Today we were talking about Tarpum Bay and Micah said “I want to go to Taco Bay!”  Ryan and I both laughed so hard!
Today was a crazy busy day!  You would think that the days when i am not teaching would be a little more relaxed!  I have to say though that I refer days like today over restful days anytime!  It was a great day!  My friend Robin came over with her two little kids for a playdate with Micah.  They had lots of fun playing!  They made fruitloop rainbows for the story of Noah and the Ark.  Then this afternoon I picked up Sandy from school and we had Bible study and made dinner together, then we all went to JC, dropped off Sandy and went to Harry and Michelle’s for Bible Study.  Thursdays are such great days!

So today was a great day, and it was a packed day for sure! It was the first day of school today and it went great! I had Fifth Grade English today. I only have 2 students, which is fun! They are sweet kids!

I did however do something today that I would normally never do, and I am not sure why I did it in the first place. I was driving back from Governors dropping off Micah and there was this little pot cake puppy crossing the street! It was so cute! And me and another truck almost hit it. My heart instantly broke and for some reason I stopped and picked it up! About two minutes later on the way home it hit me – “what am I going to do with this dog???!!!) It was the first day of school and I had a very full day! I had reached the point of no return though, I had to bring him home. So he stayed on the porch for a while until he cried and the whole chapel heard him. Then I put him in a basket in our bathroom. He was so cute! I called around and asked people what to do and tried to find someone to take him, but had no luck. I had finally come to the point where if I didn’t find someone in a few hours I would have to take him back where I found him. I figured I had given him food and flea medicine and a bath so at least I helped him. I asked the Lord what He wanted me to do with the dog, and a little later, one of my friends called me and said “you’ll never guess who I just talked to!” She had a friend in her office that she had told about the puppy and she had been wanting a puppy and said she would love it have it!! When she came to pick the puppy up I told her that I would never pick up a pot cake puppy and I didn’t know what I was thinking. She replied that she knew why – because she had been wanting a puppy! It is amazing how the Lord works things out sometimes! Or all the time really!

We had another animal encounter today too. There was a turantula in our outside sink, and it was jumping at Ryan and attacking him. Ryan was trying to get it into a bucket so he could get it out of the sink. It was scary. I didn’t know turantulas jumped like that, but this one was super big and scary! Ryan finally got it in the bucket without getting bitten, another Praise the Lord!!!
We had a fun day of school today! God is so good to us!

Finally, after two long weeks, we have electricity!!!!!!!!! Praise the LORD!!!!!!!

We ended up having to postpone school for a week because we didn’t have electricity. It will start Monday now. But a few kids came from Nassau so they are pretty much just hanging out this week. I feel bad for them.

Our generators started breaking the last few nights, which meant Ryan would have to go out several times each night to try to fix them. It seems like we have not slept through the night since the hurricane. But now, hopefully we can sleep through the night. Yeah!

I have to say, hurricanes are exhausting!!!!!!!!!! We are so tired! Ryan especially has been working every day sun up to sun down. And having no electricity gets old really fast! But, even with the exhaustion, we’re doing great! Life is good. The Lord kept us safe in the storm, and has blessed us so very much every day since! And, not only did we get electricity back, but a flower bloomed! The first flower after the storm! It’s a beautiful red hibiscus! I think the Lord made it bloom just for us today!

Today was Micah’s first day of school! He was very excited to go to school this morning! I was glad he was excited but the first day is always sad for me. I missed him all day and couldn’t wait to pick him up. He was actually asleep when I got there and stayed sleepy the whole night.
