August 10

Today was a fun day. Micah and I colored a lot and did sidewalk chalk outside when it wasn’t raining. He’s doing a great job knowing his shapes and he knows all the colors and he recognizes numbers 1-3, and sometimes 4 and 5. I love hearing him roar like a lion! He’s just the best! Today we went to look at a daycare. We have been praying about putting Micah in a daycare for a day each week to meet other kids his age and have social interaction. I think we found a good one. I am praying for wisdom for sure! He will have to wear a cute little uniform, which I’m excited about! He’ll be so cute! I’m having a hard time thinking of letting go, even if it’s for only a day each week. but I think it will be good for him, and hopefully the Lord will bring some good things that I can use my time with for a day each week too!

Four people have died in the last week here in Central Eleuthera. That’s a lot! Today I went to one of the funerals, for the mom of a girl who was in my Bible study this last year. Bahamian funerals are very different than American ones. It’s definitely a cultural experience. They leave the body out the night before the funeral for people to view, and everyone goes out and hangs out in the streets all night. Then they have the funeral the next day then they carry the casket and everyone follows down the street to the cemetery. They sing and have a band that plays with all the people all the way to the grave yard. It was a sad funeral.

Tonight Ryan and I spent a few hours passing out announcements to churches for classes. We went to all the churches from Point to Gregory Town.

I am thankful for the power being on. It’s been going off for a few hours every day this week. It’s the worst at night! But today it’s been on all day! Praise the Lord!

I went running this morning by the ocean. It was wonderful! I have been walking and running each morning. It’s so great to be able to spend that time talking to the Lord and enjoying His creation. It’s beautiful! I walk down to the back road that runs along the beach, and go back and forth from Banana Beach to Sky Beach. There are lots of bugs and money bats that always hit me, and I always run into spider webs, but it’s worth it! I get to exersize in one of the most beautiful places in the world, beside the beautiful ocean and miles of beach with nobody on it. There are palm trees and birds, and it’s just such a blessing. I need to be reminded sometimes of what a blessing it is to live here. Sometimes I get bogged down with life and forget to look around me. So many people would love to live here, and for some reason the Lord has us here! It’s great! I am focusing on enjoying what the Lord has given me here more.

When Micah loses something, like his suckey, he has started going all around the house and saying “suckey..where are you?” over and over again! It’s very cute!

Right now we are in a few weeks or semi rest. Teams are done and classes start August 30. Ryan still has a lot to do to prepare for classes, but he has a little extra time each day to rest and we have gotten to spend some good time together.

This morning I went for a walk. What a great walk it was too! Micah knows his name now! And it’s super cute! Before he would say that his name is “You” but now he says “Micah!” I love him!

Today we took a family date to the cheeseburger place! Then we walked on the beach to Twin Coves, and I found a yellow sea bean! I have never found one of those before! We had a fun date! I have the best family! God is so good to us!

So Micah is great with names. The only problem is that he thinks his name is “You”. Every time we show him a picture or look in the mirror we would say “That’s you!” So now he thinks that’s his name. I think it’s cute though.

Our internet has been off for weeks. It’s not been fun. But, the team that has been here from Florida has been great! We love this team! They were the team that moved us into our house when we first moved here. It’s great to have them back! And, I got to spend Katrina’s last day here with her. We went to Sky Beach and swam and ate and searched for sea beans. She found some! It was an answer to prayer. I love how God cares about even little prayers like finding a sea bean. We will for sure miss Katrina and the team!

We have gotten to go on lots of family walks lately too. We walk down to the beach and search for treasures. It’s fun!

Today we went for a family walk to Banana Beach. We had a great time, although poor Bitty fell a few times and scraped his little knee. We got to chase crabs and collect sea beans though! We had fun!

August! I love when a new month comes around. I somehow feel as though it’s a new beginning. Today was a good first day too. We went on a family date this afternoon to the beach and to Sky Beach for drinks. We collected sea beans together. Micah had fun finding them and he would carry around the sea hamburgers them bury them and find them again. It was very cute! Then he would find treasures and give them to me, so proud! I love that he’s old enough to do that now! And some of the time he would follow Ryan and try to walk in his footsteps. Very precious! And tonight we’re watching a movie together.

Micah had fun coloring today….on the chair! On the up side though he colored it very pretty colors!
