October 30 & 31, 2010 – Halloween – by Emily
Trick-or-treating gets better every year with Micah! This year I made a chicken outfit for Micah. I have been sick all week and almost didn’t get his costume made, but I had a few hours Thursday that I felt ok, so I got it made just in time! This year he actually wanted to dress up. He’s been wanting to put on his costume all day!
We all went up to Spanish Wells this year again for Halloween Trick-or-Treating! We met our friends Donald and Candi and started the evening out with a bite to eat at the Gap. We shared some conch fritters and ate cheese sticks and onion rings. We met some other friends there, Allen and Shaina and their baby, Autumn! They dressed up as Peter Pan, Wendy, and Autumn, who is almost a year old, was the cutest Tinker Bell!
Micah loved Trick-or-treating and went right into all the houses, even the ones he wasn’t supposed too! He also loved riding around in the golf cart! He thought it was funny! He got tons of treats! And this year we brought candy to pass out too. By the end of the night he was ready to go home. Trick-or-treating really takes it out of two-year-olds! We had so much fun!
Happy Halloween! Unfortunatly, Ryan left today for St. Maarten for two weeks. We already miss him! I will be a long two weeks without him! We were planning on going to some Halloween events tonight but Micah was super tired and I didn’t want to wake him from his nap and keep him up late tonight, so we’re taking the evening off and relaxing!

I went to the clinic today but they don’t know what’s wrong with me. My stomach is actually feeling a little better, but not great still. I did eat some bread though which is the first I’ve eaten in a few days. We went to lunch with the Foxes and Fastzeskis at Sky Beach. And Micah went to PreSchool. And tonight I had Bible Study with Sandy. We had a great discussion on God’s plan for a family. It was a good night! Also today since I was feeling a little better I made Micah’s Halloween outfit. He looks so cute! I’m finished with it now and I’m resting before I conquer the dishes!

Another day of not feeling good. My poor tummy! I did go to Rock Sound today though with Ryan and Micah. We went tot he Ocean Hole and played on the playground for a while. We had fun but I didn’t feel good. Tonight I’m going to bed early, at 7:30.

I have felt horrible all day. Still have a bug. Alicia and the kids came over tonight though and the kids all had fun playing! And I had fun talking to Alicia. It’s fun to have them here visiting! I wish I felt better though.

So something is wrong with my tummy. I think I have a bug or something. I tried potty training Micah today and sleeping in a toddler bed, but by nap time my stomach felt so bad that I gave up. Micah went pee once on the potty, but I’m giving up for the day.

We’re home!!!! Hooray! It’s good to be on the ground again. And we’re so glad to be back with Ryan! It was hard to say goodbye to my family in Ohio though. It’s good to know we’ll be back for Christmas. Ryan is having lots of fun playing with Micah. Tonight I was ushered right back into ELeuthera when we had nothing to eat and no grocery stores were open. It’s good to be back!

Today is our last day here in Ohio. It will be sad to leave, but we’re excited to see Ryan tomorrow! We had a fun day today. We went to McDonalds for lunch so MIcah could play in the playland, and then tonight Maggie through a party for me! She and Noah wrapped presents, and they got me a ice cream cake, and they made decorations. We had lots of fun! Kari got to come too! It was the perfect last day here!
A few things to not forget……don’t leave a bag of apples on the floor because MIcah will take one bite out of each one and put it back int he bag. And always check the vases, because sometimes MIcah goes around the house putting one or two pretzels in each one.
ON this trip Micah has gotten so big! He says lots more things now, and stops at all the red lights when he’s on his bike. He is on the phase now where he wants to do things himself and he shouts “do it, do it!” which means that he wants to do it himself. And he shouts “mommy, mommy, mommy!” over and over until he gets my attention, and if he doesn’t get it he grabs my face in both hands and turns my head into his about an inch away and says “mommy!” And when he wants me to follow him he shouts “come on mommy!” It’s very cute!

This morning Erica came over and we drove to Cleveland, back to the store. We had a fun trip, complete with Starbucks and the toy store! Then this afternoon Anika and Maggie came over and played with Micah for a while. Micah and Anika actually wrestled most of the time. I tell you, Anika can handle tough boys! She just pushes right back! They had fun! Then tonight I went to a small group which ended up being a huge blessing and encouagement! I was amazed how the Lord provided for a big need in Eleuthera through people who I had never even met until tonight. I am so thankful for the faithfulness of the body of Christ! The Lord always provides when you least expect it!

October 21, 2010 Thursday
I got to spend the day with Stephanie today. We had been trying to get together this whole trip but it didn’t work until today. We had a fun day though. She cut and styled my hair and we went shopping. and this morning my dad drove me up to Cleveland to get something at the store which i actually ended up getting the wrong this and will have to go back. After we went to the store we went to Olive Garden for lunch. We had fun, poor Ryan though called and was jealous because he had nothing to eat in the house. Every time my dad picks up Micah he says “you’re too heavy!” and today in Olive Garden he said that then MIcah repeated by saying “no you’re too heavy! MIcah too heavy, papa too heavy, grammy too heavy……” And all the way out the restraunt he said to every person we passed – “You’re too heavy!” It was very funny! And a bit embarrassing!
Tonight I had dinner at the Purdy’s with them and some other friends who are hoping to come to Eleuthera next summer for a missions trip. I’m so excited for them to bring a team! We had a great time of fellowship at dinner!

So much for sleep last night. I couldn’t breathe all night, but I had a doctor’s appointment thismorning and got a breathing treatment. I am feeling a lot better but still not great. Unfortunatly I couldn’t speak at church to the youth group tonight. I cna’t even carry on a normal conversation yet. But I feel like I’m getting better and better and the doctor said I would be better tomorrow. Micah is doing ok. His little nose is just running but other than that he’s good.

Church today was great! I spoke in one Sunday School class at the south campus then headed up to the North campus for the church service. I got to sit with Heidi, so that was fun! And it was great to be able to worship uninterupted again! Micah loves Sunday School and always asks to go to church. After church we all had dinner together and relaxed for the evening.

Busy day today! We went to the YMCA today with Alexis and her kids. The kids jumped in the bouce house and we went swimming. Micah loved it all! He loves playing in the water and they had a jetski blowup raft that he played with the whole time! Then of course he didn’t want to leave. Alexis and me were exhausted by the time we left and we went home and took a nap. Tonight we went to the stew cookout at Uncle Chet and Aunt Marsha’s. I missed Ryan. He would have had fun I think. They played bluegrass! And they cooked stew over the fire and we went on lots of hay rides. Micah loved the hayrides! Jeremy hid in the bushes and scared the kids. We had lots of fun!

We went to the Akron Zoo today! We had a fun time! We went with Katiera and the kids. Micah had lots of fun running around with them. I think he was too busy most of the time running around though to notice the animals. He ran off a few times and we had to chase him all around. He loved riding the carosel!! It was his favorite i think. He chose to ride the bird. And he didnt want to leave it! After the zoo we went to McDonalds so the kids could play, but i think Micah was too tired and there were bigger kids that were playing too rough for him, so he didn’t have too much fun. He sure loves his cousins though! He always askes to go see them! “Maggie! Noah! Ka!” (that’s what he called Anika). It’s very fun to have him play with his cousins!

Today was a rainy day. I have to say that I like the rain! It makes the leaves fall too and it’s very pretty when they fall! Our zoo day got cancelled though because of the rain.

Tonight I got to speak to the kids group at church, the Power Kids. It was so much fun! They asked a ton of questions! One question someone asked was “Do they have speed limits where you live?” The next kid raised his hand and said “my dad NEVER obeys the speed limit!” It was very funny! After I talked I got to go in with the girls and help them make crafts. I love children’s ministry! I have so much fun teaching kids about the Lord! I see so much potential in them!

This morning I went to my mom’s Bible Study and spoke about Eleuthera. I love sharing with people about our ministry and what the Lord is doing in ELeuthera! After Bible Study Katiera and the kids came over for a while. we had a fun day!

Church today was great! I let Micah sleep in a little, then we went to church at the South Campus. I love being able to sit through a church service! After church the kids came over, and Kari came over and we all had a picnic outside. The weather was BEAUTIFUL!!!! The leaves were falling while we ate even! Then after we ate we carved the pumkins we picked yesterday. Micah really didn’t want anything to do with the yucky pumpkin insides though, so he played on his bike most of the time. it was a fun experience though! And after that we went to Stepahnie’s little girl, Emma’s, birthday party. It was fun to see some friends there and get to catch up, and Micah jumped on the trampline with kari lots of the time!

Today was a super fun day! We went to Maggie and Noah’s soccer games all morning. They did great! Micah however had trouble staying off te field! He kept running straight onto the field in the middle of the game! For lunch we all went to Hcick-fil-a, and Kari met us there! Micah was super excited to see her! After that we all went to the pumpkin patch, which was super cool! They had helicopters, real ones, that Micah got to sit it! And tractors! And bounce houses! And…a giant box of corn kernels and toys!!!! It was really fun! We picked some pumpkins too right out of the field!
For dinner everyone was tired, and we had pizza instead of going out. It was fun to everyone there! And it was sad to say good-bye tonight to Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan. We’re glad they got to come though!

The trees here are soooooo beautiful! I just wish Ryan could be here to see them! In Eleuthera we miss the seasons and the changing trees. It’s just so beautful! However, Micah thinks that all the yellow trees are banana trees. We drive by them and he yells out “nana trees!! nana trees!” It’s the cutest thing! This afternoon Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan got here! It’s fun to see them, I think Micah even remebered them! He gave them big hugs and kisses, and even smiled for some pictures! Micah’s cousins were over today too, and we had lots of fun again playing outside. We ordered Belgrades for dinner, and had a fun dinner all together. It’s always a little, or a lot, crazy when everyone’s together. The kids are excited when everyone’s there especially. Uncle Mike and Aunt Susuan brought present for the kids and they loved playing with them, and we played the elephant butterfly game too where the butterflies shoot up and you try to catch them in nets. Micah LOVED the game! I think he only caught one the whole time, but he got so excited when they would shoot out and he would jump up and down the whole time screaming!

Today I got to spend a few hours with my roommate from Cedarville! We met at Hick-fil-a and talked for hours! It was a very encouraging time! I miss her lots! This afternoon Micah played outside for a long time with his cousins. At one point honey ran away and while we were all busy looking for her MIcah and Anika ran all by themselves over to the swing set and jumped up and started swinging together. We didn’t even know where they were until we heard “weeeee” from across the yard! It was so fun to have Micah play here like I used to, it brought back lots of fun memories and i am so blessed to have my son playing here too! he also rode bikes, which is a favorite for ihm, for a long time! The kids had even put up a tree house that he got to play in! During his short nap, which I don’t thin he actually slept in, I was laying in the bed and heard him counting to himself in the crib..”one….two…three…four…five…six…..pause…..eight – nine!!” I love listening to him talk to himself!! It was very cute! Now if he can only remember seven!
Tonight at dinner he was saying everyone’s names, eccept he kept calling my brother “Bob”. It was funny! he had called my dad that too at one point! Micah and Noah were making each other laugh at the table too. Noah would dance and Micah would imitate him, which was so funny and then everyone would laugh which of course spurred on the silliness! We had fun!

We had lots of fun today! this morning Micah and I went over to my cousin alexis’s house and babysat her two little kids. Micah had lots of fun having a boy to play with! he and Xavier smashed trucks into each other lots! They had lots of fun! Micah took a nap this afternoon, then for dinner we had pizza, which I had been waiting for for a long time! Micah discovered a little doll that he played with tonight. Now let me first say that I’m not the biggest fan of him playing with dolls, but it was super cute how he instantly knew what to do with it. He tucked it in with his blankie and gave it his suckey. it was just so cute! And he would put it on the back of his bicycle and ride it around the driveway.

We had another great day today! I didn’t wake up until 10 this morning, and MIcah slept until 10:30, then mom and Katiera and Maggie and Anika came back from Bible study and the kids played all afternoon. Micah rode a tricycle for the first time, at least he pedaled for the first time! And he had tons of fun playing with his cousins! When they left we went to feed the alpacas, which MIcah had fun with. Then we went in to see Aunt Marsha and play with Xavier and Annie. Then we went to the store and came home and had dinner. Micah got to bed on time tonight, and now I’m resting..it’s great! We miss Ryan though a lot!

Today was a great day! I am officially back in Ohio with my family, and it was the BEST day of travel! The Lord answered our prayers for sure! It was just me and MIcah traveling, and I sorta expected it to be a long day, but it was good! My plane from Eleuthera was supposed to leave at 9:55 but when we got there at 9:05 everyone had already boarded but us! We said quick goodbyes and rushed on the plane just in time. Then when we got to Nassau we had a long long layover, but the Lord sent another family with a 4 year old to play with Micah most of the time, and they had lots of fun playing and made the layover really fun! Our flight from there to Charlotte was great too, we watched cartoons the whole time, then we got to our next gate with 10 minutes to spare, just enough time to geta quick bite to eat. The last flight MIcah slept for about 45 minutes, then woke up with a belly ache, which was a little rough, but when we got off the plane he was better. He ran to see Grammy when he saw her! She and Jeremy picked us up and we went to drop Jeremy off. We didn’t get to bed until after 10:00, and I can’t ehlp but praise the Lord for the wonderful day He gave us!

We’ve had lots of fun with Jesse and Erica here! Saturday we toured the north part of the island, and went to Preachers Cave and Harbor Island. And today we went to Harvest Time for church and grilled lobster for lunch. It’s been rainy today but we’ve had fun anyways. Micah dumped a whole bottle of baby shampoo out in his bath and made lots of bubbles! Note to self….put the shampoo up if I walk out of the room! It was cute though!
