Happy Halloween! I love Halloween! This year Micah is so excited about it too, which makes it more fun! I took some goodies to school for Micah’s friends for snack, and took some treat bags for some of his other friends. And this morning Micah woke up super excited to get his own treat bag! It had stickers and candy and little finger puppets! I Praise the Lord for friends and family who have sent us everything to make it a great Halloween! I made “pumpkin” pancakes for MIcah this morning. Really they were just normal pancakes dyed orange and green and put together to make the shape of pumpkins. Micah would only eta the green stem part though, he said that the orange part tasted too silly! Which I thought was funny since thy only difference was food coloring! He had a fun day at school today and was so excited to go Trick-or Treating when i picked him up! We went back to the house to pick up Ryan then we all headed to Spanish Wells for the evening. Micah was a little monkey, and he was the cutest little monkey ever! He is just like Curious George, so the costume fit perfectly! He had a great time getting all of his treats! He perfected saying “Trick-or-Treat” a few weeks ago in preparation for tonight! He ended up with lots of candy and cookies and chips and juice, and even $12! We had a great time as a family! Another great thing about Halloween is that we get to spend it with our friends from Spanish Wells! Fr the forth year in a row we went up there and went around with Donald and Candi for the evening. It’s so great to get to fellowship with them every Halloween.

This morning started early. I walked with my friend Rhonda in the Walk for the Cure. It started at 6:30 am and we walked from Point to Governors. It was really fun? My poor nose was runny though. And the rest of the day I have felt sick. Ryan has been so great. God blessed me with an amazing husband! He watch Micah for most of the day and did lots of the house work and washed and cleaned out the cars so I could sleep. He’s so wonderful!
Tonight the weekend dorm boys came over and ate dinner and played the Wii for a while. Tomorrow is another busy day! God is good!

We moved Micah out of our room finally. He had been sleeping in the room with us while he’s been sick. I have to admit that I liked him being in there with us. It’s a little sad to have him back in his own room. I’m so glad he’s feeling better though.

I taught today all day. On Fridays Ryan and I teach choir. It’s fun to teach it together! We have a lot of work to do though! Tonight we spent the evening as a family. I am starting to feel sick though. And tomorrow is an early morning for me!

Today was Micah’s first day back to school after being sick. He didn’t feel well on the way to school and I wasn’t sure if I should really have him go, but he wanted to, and once he got there he was fine. I spent the day catching up on school stuff, and then had Bble study with Sandy. W only spent a few minutes with Harry and Michelle because I wanted Micah to get to bed early because he’s still not feeling great.

The bets part of my day was going to the airport to pick up our mail! Our Sunday School class in Texas sent a care package that was GREAT, and my brother and his family sent us a box full of teaching materials that I’m so excited to use with my 5th graders! It’s such an encouragement to know people are thinking of us and praying for us! I love getting boxes in the mail! It’s such a blessing!

Well, last night Micah coughed through the night again.  But it wasn’t as bad as the night before.  Most of the time he slept right through all of his coughing.  There was one time that he woke up and we gave him a popsicle to help his throat swelling and it helped.  And he woke up lots of times and we gave him really cold juice and that helped too.  I was praising the Lord all night though!  I am so thankful that it wasn’t as bad as the night before!  I feel more peace now knowing that he has a virus and there is nothing caught in his lungs or anything.  I didn’t get much sleep last night, but instead of fear my heart was filled with praise knowing that God was helping Micah to sleep a little better.

Today I took Sandy to Sky Beach for her 18th birthday.  Averil came too and we had a great time!  Poor little Micah has not been feeling well all day though.  his nose has started to run now and he’s coughing during the day now too.  I have to admit that even though I hate him being sick, I really love the extra cuddle time with him!  He’s very cuddly when he’s sick!

Last night was the most horrible night since we have been here!  A little while after Micah went to sleep Ryan noticed that he wasn’t breathing well.  He was coughing a strange cough and woke up coughing and panicking crying because he couldn’t breathe well.  We weren’t sure what was wrong with him.  We thought maybe something was stuck in his lungs or throat or something.  We eventually calmed him down though and he stopped coughing and was breathing fine, but then he kept waking up the same way all night.  We didn’t know what was wrong and I tried calling every number i had or doctors and nurses here on the island and nobody would answer their phones!!!  I was so upset and we didn’t know what to do.  Finally I got ahold of his pediatrician in the States and she said that there is nothing stuck in his lungs, it is a virus and aparently lots of kids have it now.  She said to turn on the shower and make it steam and let him breath in the steam, but we don’t have hot water in our shower, so she said to open the freezer and let him breath in the cold air for a while.  Finally Micah fell asleep and slept for a few more hours.  Ryan and i didn’t sleep hardly at all though.  I just layed there and prayed for peace and watched Micah to make sure he was okay all night.  IN the morning Micah woke up and it was like nothing had happened at all  He was great!  he just wanted to play.  I took him into the clinic though anyways, and our friend that was over our house the night before took her little boy in to to get him checked out in case also.  The doctor said he probably has a virus or whooping cough.  When we got back from the doctor he slept for a few hours and woke up not feeling well.  He was coughing again.  I think last night was the first time i questioned whether or not I really could live here, if God really wanted us here.  It’s a horrible feeling to have something wrong with your kid and not have any doctor or hospital to go to and you can’t even get ahold of anyone on the phone.  Micah would just cough and cry “help me mommy” and I felt so helpless.  It was AWFUL!!!  Today was a blessing though.  The Lord has given us an amazing ministry with an amazing director!  He immediately got ahold of a great pediatrician that we can can call 24/7 and they are putting together a list of any medications and everything we might need if we ever have an emergency again.  I talked to the pediatrician and he was very helpful!  He said that Micah has classic croup symptoms and said it would probably be bad for a few more nights and he explained everything and gave us lots of information on what to do to help him.  The Lord take such good care of us!  I am amazed by His faithfulness!!!!!!  I am going to bed tonight with more peace knowing that even if it’s a hard night, God has given us everything we need.

Micah still sleeps with his blankie and his doggie every night.  He used to carry them around everywhere, but he doesn’t do that anymore.  But one thing that I noticed is that whenever he is falling asleep or cuddling with his blankie, he rolls the end of it up and play with it with his fingers and touches it to his cheeks.  It’s so cute.

This week we haven’t had school.  It’s midterm break.  It’s been a great week so far!   We have gotten lots of rest in!  I took long naps while Micah was in school Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.  It was so nice!  And tonight we had a Harry and Michelle, Dale and Lisett, and Julius and Robin and their kids over for pizza.  We had a great time fellowshipping together and even had a little time to have a jam session before it got to late and the kids fell apart.  It’s been such a huge blessing to get to know these couples and share our lives with them!

Today I worked with Micah using scissors for the first time.  He is awesome at cutting with scissors!  He did so well!  I’m very proud of him.  He cut a straight line all the way down a paper, and he had fun making little tons of little cuts!

We have midterms this week.  I just love teaching!  I love giving midterms!  I have really great students.

I just got back from my friend, Valencia’s baby shower in JC.  We had a great time!  I love all the ladies from JC!  It’s always fun to get together with them!

Micah LOVES to build train tracks.  He builds a different track every day.  Today we built one from a map.  He did a great job!  He also loves maps!  He loves to draw his own maps too.  We made a map of his room the other day and ever since then he’s been making maps of everything!  Tomorrow we are going to draw a map and then turn it into a train track!  He’s so fun!  He also loves building towers and castles from blocks.  He’s such a great builder!

Today was a rough day!  Last night i got something in my eye, and then i thought I had scratched it.  I wore an eye patch all day today.  I couldn’t turn my right eye to the right at all without it hurting so bad!  Then tonight, after 24 hours of this, I rinsed out my eye again and all of a sudden something came sliding down my eye and I took it out and i was better!  Praise the LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I felt like the blind man that Jesus had healed!  I was blind but now I see!   I know it may seem like something small, but I still look at it like a miracle!

I love it when Micah learns words that I didn’t know he could say.  Today he said “mommy, I’m really disappointed.”  He was sad that he had to leave his toy at home and couldn’t take it to school.  I felt so bad for him!

He’s doing great in school!  He knows all his letters and their sounds (he’s known them for a long time)  and he knows all of his days of the week and months of the year(he skips October every time though =), and he tells me Bible stories that he learns in school.  He does a great job coloring!  He tries his hardest to stay in the lines and is getting better and better!  We are also working on sounding out letters to make words.  He read his first word – hat!  Well, technically he can rad his own name, but that’s pretty much memorization rather than reading.  He can sound out hat and cat.  I’m so proud of him!  He does really well drawing shapes and he is working on his letters too.  He does well drawing some numbers, 1, 2, 4, and 5.  He does a great job circling things and underlining things in his workbooks!

Crazy, but good day today!  Again, you would think that a Saturday would be restful!  Well, some of today was restful, but not this morning!  MFI came this morning, and i didn’t know they were coming until late last night. I rushed to the airport, then rushed back to Point and dropped Micah off at a friend’s house so she could watch him while I was at a meeting that was supposed to start at 9:00.  I got there at 9:40.  I spent the whole morning rushing everywhere only to be reminded that I live in the Bahamas, not the States!   The meeting hadn’t even started when i got there!  Why do I rush anywhere?  Why do I stress myself out only to arrive somewhere “late” and still be there before everyone else?  I love Eleuthera!  Life is about more than stressing yourself out to be on time somewhere!  Maybe someday I will learn that!  Micah got to feed turtles at Rhonda’s house, and he loves it there!  The meeting went well and I headed back to Rhonda’s to pick up Micah then back to school to get lunch for the dorm boys.  Then, it was time to try to take a nap, which doesn’t work with Micah there!  Then came one of my favorite parts of the year – decorating for Fall!!!  I had a great time decorating our house!  Then I got to light Fall candles and it was just so great!

Micah and I painted rainbows today.  He loves to paint!  And my parents sent some preschool workbooks, and he loves to do those too!

I miss having Ryan here, but it has been fun to have Micah sleep in our bed with me.  I let him fall asleep in his own bed then carry him to ours for the rest of the night.  Last night he sang a song in his sleep, then he said “mommy, I want to color rainbows.”  It was so sweet to watch him sing and talk in his sleep!  He’s such a precious gift from the Lord!
