Micah Is Growing Up! – by Emily

September 5 was Micah’s official first day of school! He is going to the same Preschool as last year, but this year he is going 3 days a week. He was very excited to go back! He has been looking forward to going back to school since May! When I picked him up from school he was actually asleep. Last year he never took naps in school, but I guess the fun of the first day wiped him out! He said he had a great day though!

This summer he has really blossomed into a social bug! He loves people! He has met a few new friends in our new settlement and has had fun playing with them. This is a huge praise! I love watching him interact with other kids his age. He is a leader even at three. He will arrange his friends into a “team” and lead them all over the place!

He is also officially potty trained – another HUGE praise! He is working now on getting dressed by himself, which is harder for him because he’s always sweaty and his clothes stick to him like glue! And also he is growing growing growing! A lot of his clothes are actually too small for him now. I actually bought a pair of shoes for him back in May when we were in the States so that he could have shoes to wear when school started. I tried them on the week before school started and they are TOO SMALL! His feet are growing way too fast! Who knew that he would grow out of a pair of shoes in only a few months!

He is also more and more like Ryan every day. I noticed that he loves to watch the credits of movies, it’s one of his favorite things, Ryan too! And Micah needs to know how everything works. They both have very soft hearts too! Micah very sweetly gives kisses and hugs and says “I love you Mommy” all the time. He makes my heart melt. He also got very upset because the hurricane blew all the flowers away so he can’t pick any for me anymore.

We have an old family Bible that Micah loves to hear stories from. Ryan will read it to Micah and Micah loves to look at the pictures and listens intently. And he always says what he is thankful for at the dinner table. Most days his list includes cookies, trees, pictures, pillows, Daddy, Mommy, his grandparents, and other random things like toys and curtains. It’s fun to hear his list each day!

He is just the biggest joy! He brings daily laughter to our house! He is as silly as can be! He loves to make up words and say words in a sentence where it doesn’t belong, ten he will burst out laughing! He loves to run and has what seems like endless energy!

He is also learning more and more about sin and forgiveness. Today he threw his show at me in the car and I had to discipline him. Tonight before bed he said very sweetly to me, “Mommy, do you forgive me for throwing my shoe at you today? Please forgive me.” Of course I had told him when it happened that I forgave him, but he had to make sure again. I pray that he understands more daily of God’s forgiveness and unconditional love.

I could write pages and pages of the joys of having Micah in our lives! We are so thankful the the Lord blessed us with him! He’s our favorite little boy! We tell him that all the time. When I say it he replies, “You’re MY favorite little boy too Mommy!” It makes me smile!
