Blessings – by Emily

You know, living in Eleuthera is great! In fact, we LOVE serving here! I have to admit though that there are lots of times when we really miss our family and friends, and often the “comforts” of living in the United States. There are no big stores here, no fast food or chain restaurants. And there are lots of things that we just can’t get here. For example, they have a little selection of Christmas things at the gas station, and you can buy a bag of Christmas candy if you want to spend $6-$9 for it!

In the last few months though our church in Frisco, Texas has begun to send us boxes for of blessings! The first one was full of Halloween candy and Fall decorations and lots of other goodies, and the last round of boxes (three huge boxes) was filled with lots of Christmas treats! They even included a gingerbread house making kit! They sent lots of food and things like cupcake cups and treat bags, popcorn and sprinkles. This past week I have had so much fun making white chocolate popcorn and pretzels and cookies to pass out to the people here. It as been so fun! This is a way that I get to use the gifts God has given me to serve people here, and I am able to do it because of the generosity of our church family! Thank you! Another thing that has been included in the boxes is things for Micah. It means so much to me that our church family invests in Micah’s life! I want him to always to know that he has family, friends, and great church families that love him and pray for him. I love seeing the smile on his face when he gets a new toy! This Christmas he chose to give away one of his toys to a friend, and we are going to find another friend who will not get any presents this year and give them a toy also. What a great example our church family is to him of a giving spirit!

Thank you to all who have invested in our life! The Lord is doing amazing things here! We daily, sometimes hourly, have opportunities to speak truth and love into the lives of the kids here, and we are getting to see lives all over the island changed. Some changes are super duper slow, but we have faith that God is moving!

Another celebration we are having this week is our 10th anniversary of our arrival on Eleuthera! It was ten years ago this week that we first came here on a short term missions trip with Cedarville. Who knew that God would have so much in store for us in the past ten years! I can’t wait to see what He has in the next ten!
