Life and Ministry with Sandy – by Emily

For the last few years i have had the privilege of doing discipleship with a girl from James Cistern, Sandy.  She is such a wonderful gift from the Lord, and I have been so blessed to have her part of our lives!

After 12 years of hard work, she graduated High School this week!  We are super proud of her!  It’s so hard to be a teenager, and she has worked hard and kept her eyes focused on the Lord and has made it through!

This weekend we also got the chance to go on her first “mini missions trip”!  This is so exciting for me to take her to!  We went North to a Haitian village called Black Woods.  I was proud of Sandy!

She was excited to go minister to the people there, and she did a great job!  We passed out little dresses that were made by some very sweet ladies from Ryan’s home church in Wisconsin.  The girls loved the dresses, and we had a fun time getting to know everyone there.

A friend of mine, Amy, helped us out with the details.    She works with the Haitians teaching them English, and this was a great time for her too to get to know the families of some of the kids she works with.  I have a goal to learn Creole!  Sandy is a Haitian and was able to speak to the people there in Creole, which was fun!  And Micah came and made friends super fast with the little boys!  They ran around and played the whole time!

They played guns and baseball, and the boys loved the football that we brought with us!!!  Micah got all wet playing in the water that was left from the storm the night before.  He had so much fun!

We got to know some of the women there with babies too!  The babies were so cute!  I am looking forward to getting to know these sweet people more in the future, and i am so thankful that the Lord let me share this ministry with Sandy!

My favorite part about this week was Sandy’s baptism!  Ryan baptized her on June 9th at Poponi Beach.  It was a special time!  Sandy had been wanting to get baptized for a while, and I’m so glad that the Lord has led her life and that she continues to cling to Him!  Pray for her as she goes out into the world and find the next step the Lord has for her.  She has big dreams!

I am sad to say that the Lord has her in Nassau and Bimini for a while. I know He has great plans for her though and i am excited to see what He continues to do in her life!
