Golden Corner Church – Windermere’s Team

There are teams that you hate to see leave, and others that you’re happy to see leave – this past week’s team is one where you absolutely hate to see them leave and you wish they could stay all summer long. The only good thing about them leaving is that they get to come back.

Golden Corner has been coming to Windermere High School longer than any of our summer staff members. This is their 14th consecutive trip to Eleuthera and they have the system figured out – like a well oiled machine, each member knows their part to contribute and their love and service to one another is beyond the normal mission team.

This team was our premiere team for the summer. All of our consecutive teams’ fate rest on what this one would lay the groundwork for. We spent weeks prepping the worksite and in a matter of hours this team took everything to the next level… literally. They had all the walls of the shed up and finished in less than 2 days, and the job of forming up a belt course can normally take a week in and of itself, and they completed ours in the little remainder of their work week – with time to spare.

However, the construction work was only half of this team’s efforts. While the men played with mud and blocks, the ladies were prepping for their (count them) 2 Vacation Bible Schools (sort of). In the afternoons they’d take the bus down into the settlement and host the most impressive Bible School these kids have seen all year. Then after the construction crew knocked off after lunch they’d pack up and drove the long trip down to Deep Creek Settlement for a Basketball Clinic and Bible School.

On top of all this, and in Holy Spirit led obedience, they served one another throughout the week. Being with them was nothing short of inspiring and we are so thankful for their legacy of serving our school and their willingness to go the extra mile in all regards.

We had worship with them in the cafeteria, Micah got bags of leftover goodies from VBS, and Emily even got a pair of flipflops that the team wanted to leave her.

If this past week is any indication as to how our summer is going to pan out then we are in for a real blessing. We thank you Golden Corner for your love and service, for your faultless commitment to building our school, and for your adoption of us into your church family. You have been a blessing to the island and to us.
