Chambers Team

Our final team for the summer has just left for the airport. Rob and Paula Chambers were missionaries here at Windermere back in the 90s and they’ve been investing in the school ever since. On this trip they helped with the final stages of interior set up for the shed.

While only being a small team, they actually accomplished quite a bit. The major projects that I needed done were the workbenches and shutters and running all the electrical to the outlets and lights. The three other folks on the team were so much fun and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of them, which is a opportunity not always afforded with larger teams.

Martin was their electrician, at least for the lights. He worked digillently with his hands above his head to rig up those lights. Initially, I had them rigged up like a set of christmas tree lights in parallel, however this dropped the wattage down from each bulb and basically only works if you’re installing only 1 light. So, good old Martin rewired the lights in series, however some of the wires got crossed with a short. So he rewired them again, but this time the switch was in the wrong location, so he rewired them again. Poor Martin, I thought; he has definitely left a part of himself with those darned lights.

Rob and Paula did a great job leading the team, and they know many people in the local settlements. Each night the team would meet for devotions and songs, and although there were only 5 of them, it was a special time to reflect on God and focus your mind to what He has done and is doing.

Paula and Alison worked tirelessly to conquer an entire summer of leftover laundry. It truly was an amazing feat that took almost 5 days to finish (a one of our washers went down). After that they were scrubbing the campus and painting the bricks. They did a great job too. I think my favorite member of the team was Earl. He has MC Hammer as his text ring tone on his phone – hilarious! He completely over fed my dog, and Tag is now missing him most of all. No more begging for food – Earl has gone home.

I’m so thankful to this team for all the work they did and to their mission team for finding the funds to contribute and invest in our summer project. We right near the end of the road for finishing the shed and without the help of this team we couldn’t make it at all. Its amazing how God gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.
