Ohio Trip Part 2 – by Emily

Our trip to Ohio turned out to last a little longer than we had planned, but it was a great trip for Micah and I! We missed Ryan a lot, but the Lord gave us fun time with family and friends. And we were able to get supplies to bring back for the school year, and we returned blessed and encouraged.

Micah got lots of time on the trip to play with his cousins, Noah, Maggie, and Annika. They rode bikes and went to parks and watched movies, and played chase and secret hide-out, and they even fought like brothers and sisters at times. I also got to visit several friends, and it was so fun to have Micah play with their kids. It’s so weird to have my kid playing with my friends’ kids like I played with them when I was little! Crazy! I think I am getting old.

We got to get lots of family time in too! One day we took all the little cousins to The Nature Realm and explored the trails and had a picnic. And Maggie and me got to feed the birds right out of our hands! She did a great job being still! Micah had lots of fun with PaPa and Grammy too! There was more wrestling with PaPa and cuddling with Grammy. It was a blessing to have my mom to watch Micah some times while I ran errands and did some shopping. And we got to go to their Sunday School Picnic one day too.

One day Aunt RiRi and Jimmy visited too! Micah loves her so much! They played all day! We all played soccer too. It was a fun game! We got to have lunch and dinner together, and although the time was too short, it was good. Micah cried and cried when she left, it was like his heart was broken.
Micah had a hard time each time he had to leave someone. We had a lot of talks about why the Lord has us in Eleuthera, and how blessed we are to have such a great family and friends. After our talks Micah’s heart calmed down and I think he understands in his own little way why we can’t live near them, but he still misses them like crazy. I do too!

There was a song that I was listening to early in the trip that said “ This is your life, are you who you wanna be? This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be?” When I heard the song I praised the Lord – my life is everything I dreamed that it would be. Only by the grace of God!!!!! God gives us daily grace and mercy, and He has been so very good to us! He provides for all of our needs, and takes great care of us. And honestly there is nothing that I have done to deserve any of it.

On that note, there is another big blessing from the Lord that we received by His grace on this trip. God provided a van for us that was donated by a couple we have never even met. We had been praying for a vehicle, and I have to admit that I struggled with my share of doubt after a while of our prayers not being answered. But then the Lord reminded me that His timing is always best. At the perfect time, the Lord provided a van from a couple from a church that had visited Eleuthera on a short-term missions trip this summer. We were able to drive to Tennessee to pick the van up, and we got everything taken care of and the van is on it’s way to Eleuthera! Praise the Lord! He always provides, even when we struggle with doubt. He is faithful always!

My dad drove with Micah and I back to Florida. We couldn’t have made the trip without him!!! He’s such a great dad! He and Micah had fun swimming at hotels on the way down, which was a really special time. He taught Micah to swim on his back and sides. Micah couldn’t wait to show Ryan when we got back! We flew over to Eleuthera on Missionary Flights. It was a huge blessing to fly with them! And we got to stay in their missions house the night before which was really nice! Again it was sad to say goodbye to my dad, and everyone else, but it is nice to be back home again. Micah ran straight to Ryan when he saw him! Praise the Lord for a great trip, and to be back home where He has us!
