Family is Finally Home

You know when its been a while, when you can count the passing of time by the number of haircuts that you’ve had. Emily and Micah had been gone for 7 weeks straight this summer, which on the bright side allowed me to concentrate on the school and work, but made life practically unbearable… well you get the idea.

Originally it was a little island-fever and missing grandma and grandpa that precipitated the idea for Emily and Micah to go home for a couple of weeks this summer (probably enduring the school year played a factor too). The thought was they’d get some good R&R and catching up with friends and family and I could concentrate on the task at hand over here.

Then Emily calls me once she lands in Ohio with the news that Micah’s passport is going to expire this Spring and it will take 3-4 weeks to get a new one. Thankfully the Passport Company (US Gov) has an expedited option for an additional $60 that will get your passport rushed through in a smattering 1-2 weeks. However, apart from Christmas we never have 2 weeks when we’re home. So the decision was made to run Micah’s passport while they were home.

Then our car broke down, so another (prayerfully saturated) task was finding a new car!!! (which God has answered and provided PRAISE THE LORD). All the more reason for Emily to extend her stay. Then we find out that I need to fill out part of the passport for Micah since he is a minor. So Emily rush ships the document to Eleuthera (not cheap) and I get it late, sign it, and send it back with one of the teams. …long story short, my family was gone too long!!!

Now that they’re back we’re having the best time. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and I’m sure appreciative of them all the more now. I swear Micah grew 3 inches while he was gone. And Emily now has the house all stocked up on supplies for another year. It was a good but long trip. Huge praise for all the wonderful things God did while they were gone this summer, and huger praise that they’re now safely home!

Our dog Tag was almost in depression with them gone so long 🙁
