3.10.07 – Aunt Nancy and Fancy Fish

We had family visit Dallas! Aunt (Great Aunt) Nancy was visiting one of her friends down here in Texas for a few weeks, and she called us up to see if we could get together. After hurrying to finish school and work before we head off to Eleuthera, we finally found some time this Saturday to meet up at the Dallas World Aquarium.

Emily and I have never been to the Aquarium before, but we’ve both heard stories. I didn’t really have high hopes, after our long past visit to the Dallas Zoo (which was more like a stroll through acres of exhibits displaying caged shrubs and vegetation). But the Aquarium is amazing!

It is so much more than a simple fish tank, though they do have fish. Along with some of the most amazing fish we’ve ever seen, many of which we also saw in Atlantis’ world class aquarium in the Bahamas, they have an entire Rain Forest.

We got to see monkeys, alligators, tropical birds, snakes and spiders, manatees, and even a sloth! The entire aquarium campus was very professional, and I guarantee we’ll be taking more friends and family who come here to visit us.

After our tour through the animal displays we had lunch at the Aquarium café, and talked about what our favorite critters were. It was so great to see Aunt Nancy and sit and talk. She showed us pictures of the family and even Grandma’s new puppy, Bud.

I often miss home and the trees and the country roads (sounds like a John Denver song eh’). But, having family here always makes Dallas feel more like home. And we totally recommend going to the Dallas World Aquarium; you should make a day of it.
