I love church in Eleuthera! I love to worship with other believers in different ways. But for the past four years I have also loved MIcah, a little boy who has so much trouble sitting through church. This sometimes makes church really hard! Here in Eleuthera, children’s church is not something that is in many churches. I actually know of only one other church out of over a hundred churches that have it! And in this culture, church lasts anywhere from 2-4 hours. For little kids, that’s so hard! I have been praying about starting children’s church for a while, and now that we have settled into a church family, the Lord said “It’s time!”
A few weeks ago I started taking the kids during the sermon and we go into another room and read a Bible story, do a craft, and sing songs. It’s simple really, but I love that I get to teach the kids on their own level. I got two other ladies from the church to join me in a rotation of teaching also so that we get to sit through the sermon sometimes. They are great teachers as well!
My prayer is that the gospel permeates the hearts of the little ones, that they grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Hopefully they have an opportunity to learn about the Lord in a fun way that they can keep throughout the week.
Also I have a goal to move the kids to doing outreach as well. Right now we are just beginning. I am praying that the Lord can reach the hearts of the kids, their parents and family, their friends, and their communities, starting with something as simple as children’s church! Please pray with me that the Lord leads and does great things in our little church!
Also, we have a few needs. Right now it is pretty much me using the materials that I have at home to do crafts and stories and songs. I would love to have a CD player, which can be used, and any craft supplies like crayons, construction paper, paper plates, foam stickers, children’s scissors, little prizes for memory verses, and things like that. If you would like to help in any way, please let us know and we can let you know where to send things.
