It somehow just doesn’t feel like the holiday season without family around. We spent this year’s Christmas break staying on Eleuthera (a first for us). And we were curious to see what it would be like, however we are thankful in that we don’t need to determine what it would be like without family, because Kari and her boyfriend Jimmy decided to spend Christmas with us.
Micah just goes crazy for Kari. From the ride to the airport to getting up at 5am to say goodbye to her – he simply had the best time. A delightful extra bonus is that I think after this trip Micah likes Jimmy even more than Kari! He crawled all over Jimmy the entire time. Jimmy was a real good sport to play with him so much.
Christmas in the Bahamas wouldn’t be complete without spending some time on and by the ocean. Jimmy caught a giant starfish and we had a lot of fun climbing palm trees and just enjoying the warm weather. They said that it certainly beats the cold, but too bad there’s no snow for Christmas.
Both Kari and Jimmy helped the school during their stay by painting our old ugly tan van a nice shiny white. Kari also knocked out her famous family Christmas chocolates and Emily make a gazillion batches of Christmas cookies. We basically ate junk for a week. I’m pretty sure Micah just ate cookies for a full day one time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Kari and Jimmy. Jimmy even helped me fix the school truck and work on all the other vehicles. We’re thankful for the time we got to spend with them over Christmas and that they chose to make the trip over to give us family for Christmas.
