Micah’s March Adventures – by Emily

Micah is super excited to be five years old!  Throughout the month of March it seemed like he asked every day if his birthday was soon.  We are counting down the weeks.  Now, finally, March is at it’s end, and he only has 23 days until he turns five!  While he can’t wait, I can. Time is flying too fast!

Micah has had a great month at school!  He is learning to read, and he had a long list of sight words to learn.  We have been practicing reading a lot, and he’s doing great!  At school this month they celebrated Commonwealth Day.  Micah had a part in his class’s song “All O’ We is One Family”.  It was super cute and Micah did a great job!

Micah also participated in his first track meet this month!  He ran super fast and came in second in the 50 meter!  He was very proud, but what made me even prouder was that he congratulated the first place winner and was a super sport!  He also participated in the softball throw, and came in forth.  There were one four throwers though.  He did great!  We are working on his throwing skills in hopes of doing even better next year!  I am a super proud mommy!  We have talked a lot about being a good sport, and trying your best but congratulating those who come before you, and he demonstrated great sportsmanship the whole time!  He was proud of his ribbons that he won too!

Micah has had trouble with a few kids in his class who make fun of him.  This is so hard for me as a mommy to have to help him learn how to deal with mean kids.  It might be hard for him to have to grow up in a place where he is the minority.  He is learning though that the Lord is all the confidence that he needs.  It will be a long road for him but the Lord will use all the hard things to make him a man after His heart.  Please pray for him.  Pray that he will be a light to those who don’t know the Lord.  I am proud of him for standing for what’s right and teaching his friends about the Lord.  I am proud of him for choosing the good kids in his class to be his close friends too, and to not be mean to the kids who are mean to him.

Now, with that said about how proud of him I am, I will mention that he has a lot to learn. One lesson he had to learn was that we don’t pull down our pants in class and wave our bottoms at our class to make them laugh when the teacher is out of the room.  Yes…..the missionary kid did that this month too.  He got a spanking from the principal, who was gracious and kind. Micah said that the spanking didn’t hurt, but when he got home from school you can bet he got a spanking that he would remember.  Ryan is great at discipline.  He is kind and gracious and loving, but at the same time strong and stern.  Micah has a great daddy!  We are doing our best to raise Micah to know and love the Lord, and to love people.  He’s a greta little boy.  I love listening to his prayers, and I have fun every night when we read his favorite book, the Jesus Bible.  We are thankful for the precious gift that the Lord has given us!
