Because Meme and Papa were in town for, pretty much anywhere in April, we were going to have to have a pre-birthday-birthday-party for Micah.
We had the whole team over to the house for a big special dinner. Ryan and Melissa brought some food and drinks too and we had a feast. They it was time for the cake. Everybody sang “happy birthday” and Micah blew out his candles. It really must be just the best thing for a little boy to have two birthday parties every year!
Not only did the team all participate in the birthday, but so many of them also brought presents for Micah, and kept them carried in their suitcases all the time they were here. I was so impressed with their giving spirit and desire to let Micah know he is loved.
After we had the cake, but before the presents, Micah whispered an idea in Emily’s ear. He had a request for everyone. Micah asked that everyone hid somewhere in the house and then when he counted to 3, everyone pop out and shout “Happy Birthday,” just like in a surprise birthday. Emily and I don’t know where he learned this idea… perhaps at a friend’s birthday party. Well, everyone hid and then on his count of 3… you should have just seen his little face light up! It was the best moment. You really could’t have crafted a better surprise.
For his first round of presents were awesome. I believe his exact words were “this is the best present ever!” He got this really cool building kit from Papa, and the two of them got into it right away, building cars and airplanes. He also got some balsa wood planes, but they pretty much broke right away.
