6.27.07 – Family Summer Vacation

Where is the ultimate vacation spot for families, you guessed it Disney World. Although Emily and originally headed to Orlando to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, we knew the parks at Walt Disney World would be much more fun with our entire families there to share in all the rides.

Emily loves Disney World. She has been here 3 other times, whereas this was only my second time at the parks. If you asked her what her favorite part of the trip was, she’d tell you “Everything was Favorite!”

The Pfeisters flew down from Akron and the Flunkers drove the 3 day trip from Wisconsin to spend the week with us at Disney. We rented a super cool condo, only 10 minutes from the parks, to call our home away from home, and from Thursday to Monday we filled each day with as much as possible.

We spent a day at the Animal Kingdom and saw just about every animal. We even waited in line for African Safari, which was very bumpy but very cool. After the birds and beasts we strapped ourselves into the Everest Rollercoaster Ride, and I’m telling you it was very fun. You actually travel right into the mountain and almost get swiped and eaten by a Yeti! Although a bit queasy afterwards, it was my favorite ride.

Next we hiked over to Disney/MGM. Emily and her parents rode the Rockin’ Rollercoaster and Kari, Dad and I (along with Emily too) stood in line forever for the Tower of Terror – it was a screaming fun ride! Later on we all met up to watch the Stunt Show, and we ended the day with the fireworks finale Fantasmic!

Then it was rest day; we just stayed at the condo and either swam, played tennis, slept, or ate – it was great. Then on our last park-hopper day we began at Epcot and ended at the Magic Kingdom for fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle. I’m pretty sure it was a dream come true for Emily.

As we said our goodbyes on Monday, Emily and I got ready to see our friends from Eleuthera: Paul and Lisa Voss (and Colby and Jessica too). They treated us to lunch and though our time was short it was wonderful to see them again.

Well, we packed as much in as possible to our Disney Trip: seeing family and friends, Cirque De Soleil, every Disney Park, swimming and sports, and lots of eating out! Although I don’t recommend a Disney vacation to relax, I do recommend it for fun family vacations.
