Frisco Team

We are so thankful to our home church and for all their support. They send teams out around the world every year, and we are grateful that they’ve included Eleuthera in their mission trip plans.

This year, along with our director Bob Johnson, we had some first-timers come on the trip and serve the school. The major projects were to install the new ceiling fans and dedicate some time to the TB house for renovation and cleaning.

Jennie was a huge help in sprucing up the house. She said how meaningful it was that her home church FBC was the one that helped to make the house in good condition again, and that once she moves down she’ll always remember it as the place where Frisco first helped set it up.

Even though the Frisco team was our smallest team of the summer, they actually accomplished as much if not MORE than some of our largest teams. First of all, they couldn’t quit working. When other groups would finish by 2-3pm, the men from Frisco worked straight until dark many nights.

One of their projects was our new detention benches. Throughout the year, the children will be reprimanded to the bench from time to time, however in the past these benches were in the shade of the palm tree and nice and comfortable. It got so bad that some of the kids would actually act up just to be sent out, or they’d even ask us teachers to send them out to the bench. Well no moreā€¦ the Frisco team helped us design and build new benches where the only sitting space is a 2×4 and we anchored them down out of the shade so that they can no longer be moved. Additionally, we increased the height of the bench so that they’re slightly more uncomfortable. It was a slightly evil satisfaction in building these benches, but they’ll serve to introduce actual discipline to our disciplinary measures.

The team prayed with us and sang with us, worshipped with us and served with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our week with the small team from our home church.
