Back to the States! – by Emily

Micah made his début as a ring bearer this summer in Kari and Jimmy’s wedding! Micah did a great job, and Ryan led the ceremony as the pastor, which was special. We spent a few days in Ohio for the wedding, which was fun as well as busy. It was fun to be back in the Cedarville area too and drive around and see some people we haven’t seen in a long time. Congratulations Kari and Jimmy!

After the wedding Ryan had to go back to Eleuthera for teams, and Micah and I drove with Ryan’s parents to Wisconsin for a week. We had a great time there! Micah rode the little tricycle up and down the driveway, and played on the swingset. We went blueberry picking too! I have never been blueberry picking, so it was fun! Micah, as we found out, is an expert blueberry picker! He filled his whole cup!

He went fishing with Papa and picked veggies from the garden with Mimi. We had a great time North with Papa and Mimi! Aunt Colleen visited too, and her and Micah went on adventures, and we ended that day by crashing a wedding where we got to see several people from the Eleuthera team! It was fun to see them!

Ryan’s parents drove Micah and I half way to Ohio, where we met my parents, who took us the rest of the way back to Ohio. In Toledo we stopped and met Kari and Jimmy at Chick-fil-a, which was a highlight of the trip too. Micah just loves Kari so very much! It was hard for him to not have as much time with her at her wedding.

Ohio was a great time too, mixed with a few hard times. Micah got four shots at the doctor, and then I took him to a dermatologist for the bump on his nose, which was a disaster. I ended up taking him to a different dermatologist, and they had to cut off the bump. It took me, my dad, and two nurses to hold Micah down while the doctor cut it off his nose. Talk about traumatizing! Thankfully his nose is all healed now though. Then, Micah had to go to the dentist. Praise the Lord though that Micah LOVED the dentist! He wanted to go back right after we left! Other than doctors and dentists though, the time with Grammy and Papa was great!

Micah got to play with his cousins a ton, and he spent the night at their house a few times. He loved spending time with his cousins! He rode a bike for the first time on his own too! Now that we are back in Eleuthera, Ryan can teach him to start, stop, and turn! Micah had fun riding the tractor with Papa and all the kids rode on a tarp pulled by the tractor too. Lots of fun! I got to spend some much-needed time with some old friends too. I am thankful for the great friends the Lord has given me!

Micah loved his time in the States! He loved seeing his family and friends! He got to go to VBS, and Sunday school too. He also continues his lego love. He got to get some new legos when he had to get shots and go to the doctors. So it was worth the pain for him. I got lots of shopping done too. I got all Micah’s school uniforms, and lots of school supplies.

It’s tricky to buy everything you need for a year all at once! We were blessed with a few friends and family to help with financial needs. My friend Stephanie also took me to get a pedicure with her! It was some great girly time! I am thankful for her friendship the last 30 years!

This was the first trip that I was a little afraid that Micah wouldn’t want to come home, but when it was time to leave, while Micah was sad, he was also excited to get back home. I am thankful for that. I am thankful that Micah loves Eleuthera. God has blessed us in so many ways!
