Micah’s First Day of School – by Emily

This year Micah started First Grade.  I am not too happy that in the Bahamas they skip K5, but that is the way it is, so my 5 year old is now a First Grader.  He’s getting so big!  He is going to Tarpum Bay again, and he has Mrs. carey this year.  He loves his teacher!  His first day of school was a good one.  He was nervous that the girls who were mean to him last year would tease him again, so we spent time praying that they would be nicer.  I am happy to announce that the mean girls have stopped teasing him this year!  There is peace in First Grade!

I have been having fun this year starting our morning Bible Study with Micah at breakfast.  It’s perfect for him with things he goes through at school.  I am proud of his heart and his desire to obey and show his friends God’s love.

So far in school there has only been one “incident.”  Apparently one day on the first week of school, he got up, walked across the classroom, and cut a whole in his friend’s shirt.  They weren’t even doing anything with scissors!  I’m not sure what was going through his little First Grade brain!  But he got a spanking from the principal, and I had to buy his friend a new shirt, which he then had to do chores to pay off.  He spent an afternoon shoveling dirt into my flower garden.  I think he learned his lesson and we haven’t had any other reports from the teacher this year.  Praise the Lord!

Micah is doing great so far in school!  We have been working super duper hard every week on spelling, and he is doing really well!  And he’s doing great in his other subjects too!  Spelling is the hardest though, but after all our studying he has gotten 100% for several weeks in a row.

We are proud of our First Grader!  He’s a huge blessing from the Lord!
