Island Christmas Program – by Emily

Micah takes after his daddy in so many great ways! One way is that he does a great job speaking and singing in front of other people. This year for school he was in two Christmas programs, and he recited Luke 2: 8-14.

For school his team, the barracudas, were chosen to perform at the South Eleuthera Christmas Carol Program. His part was to say a verse from Luke 2, and he did a great job. Then they sang a song, which was super cute. For his actual school Christmas program his group sang the same song. The school program was spectacular! Each grade did part of the Christmas story, and the school is broken up into three teams, and each team did part as well.

One thing I love about the Bahamas is the freedom we have to share the gospel and talk about the Lord as much as we want. We can still have school Christmas programs that tell the story of how Christ was born. That’s something that doesn’t exist anymore in a lot of countries. It’s a blessing that a lot of times we take for granted, and watching my little boy, surrounded by all his friends dressed as shepherd and angels, makes me so happy. The program was ended with the school singing “Mama bake dat Jonny Cake” Junkanoo style. It was really fun!

For church we had all the children prepare something to share with the congregation. They all did great! Some sang, some did poems, and scripture, and one even played the trumpet. I was very proud of them! Micah had been working on memorizing Luke 2:8-14 for a long time. He did a great job! It’s a blessing to be able to teach the kids at our church about the Lord in Children’s Church. This was something that had been on my heart for a long time, and I’m thankful for Melissa Yates who has helped me start the program and teach week by week. Children’s Church is a rarity in Eleuthera. It’s a blessing to get to be a part of the work the Lord is doing at our church!
