3 weeks with Sadie Mae – by Emily

In the words of Micah, “she is the cutest sweetest little thing!” He’s right! She has been a super great little addition to our family! The first few weeks have been great. She kept us up a lot for the first week a half, but after that she started to sleep through the night except for when I woke her to feed her. When we took her to the doctor a week along, she had lost some more weight. She was down to 7 lb 9 oz, but the next week when we went back she was up to 8 lb 6 oz. Then the doctor said she could sleep for 4 hours at a time at night, which has been nice. She’s been going to bed around 10:00 and getting up for the day around 9:00 the next morning. It’s nice to just have to feed her a few times during the night, then she goes back to sleep until the next time to eat.

She has been able to hold her head up since birth, and just yesterday she started grasping things near her (mostly my hair!) She loves tummy time too! – at least for a while. She’s struggling a little right now with having gas. Actually as I’m writing this she’s screaming her little lungs out! It’s been really nice to have family here to help out! They are loving holding her! This has helped us get ready to head back to the States and get other things done. It’s a blessing!

Micah has been an AWESOME big brother! He loves her so much! He always wants to hold her, and he’s super protective of her! He is helpful for us too. When she’s crying he always wants to find a way to help her. He’s so wonderful!

Since I got pregnant, the verse that the Lord has brought to my life has been “Every good and perfect gift comes from above…” This is our verse for her. She is a good a perfect gift, one that we do not deserve but out of the Lord’s grace and mercy He has given us the gift of taking care of her and loving her. I pray that she knows how good of a gift she is to us, but even more that she knows how GREAT the giver of the gift is! God is so very good!
Another thing that I have been thinking about has been all of the people that have helped Sadie and love her.

Since we got pregnant, the Lord has surrounded us with every provision we needed. I had two baby showers, and at each one I looked around the room and was overwhelmed by the women in the rooms. Each one of them loves the Lord and has their own story of how He has brought them through life and saved them and loved them. They are women who the Lord has used to bless others, and they shine the love of Christ through their lives. I pray that Sadie will grow in the grace of the Lord and be a women of faith, beauty, strength, and kindness like those women. I am blessed to have each one in my life!
