Jeff Larson Visit

It only happens once in a “lunar-eclipse” (because there was one this morning), that Jeff Larson make is way from his ivory tower office back at FBC down to see us lowly peasant-missionaries over here on the family island.

Of course I’m only joking, because we have been thoroughly enjoying our time with Jeff. Jeff and I were classmates at DTS and coworkers at FBC while Emily and I were in Texas. Has has stood by us in ministry here on Eleuthera for almost 7 years now, and are so thankful for his involvement and participation in coming to see what a day in the life of WHS looks like.

Jeff has been to the island many times, but only in the summer during our team season. One of the goals of this visit was to give him exposure to our students and the ministry of discipling them as well as a relational connection to our Bible College students.

Jeff and I had a great time staying up late into the night discussing the merits of all kinds of theological questions and “solving-the-worlds-problems” as we used to enjoy doing back in Frisco. We just had an excellent time together. One day he helped me catch some minnows for our fish tank and we saw a 5 ft shark! It was the first shark I have ever seen in the Bahamas. It circled around us and Jeff said, “so should we be moving somewhere?” It was funny and a little nerve wracking. He swam with a stick for protection after that.

We had some good talks about missions and what it could look like in an ideal world. It was good to talk with my friend again about the work we’re doing and how FBC has been such a blessing. Jeff commented a few times on how insightful it was to talk to our other staff members and hear their perspective on FBC’s involvement in the school’s past, present, and future.

I’m deeply grateful for Jeff’s visit and we welcome him back again soon.
