Grace Church Pastors and Spiritual Emphasis

After the visit of our mission’s pastor from FBC comes the visit from our mission’s pastor from Grace in Ohio: Adam Speas. Adam came to visit us along with Grace’s worship minister and a member of his small group. The timing of their visit was more than just a show-and-tell visit; they came to help lead our Fall Spiritual Emphasis Week at WHS.

Part of the ministry of Windermere is to provide venues for fostering spiritual growth and training in our students. So, each year we have a fall and spring Spiritual Emphasis Week where we bring in Bahamian or international speakers to minister to our students.

The men from Grace were leading on the topic of “Know it, Live it, Give it away” – where “it” is the Gospel. Its one thing for our students to hear the gospel, but its another thing to have them challenged to learn how to “give it away.”

I was a little curious to know how the students would respond to Aiden’s contemporary worship style and new songs. In the past its been a challenge to get them to open up to new styles and songs, but that didn’t stop Aiden. With marginal participation on day #1, he was undeterred and by the end of the week the kids were clapping and singing all the new songs, and even asking to sing more.

During their visit, Adam joined me in teaching the college classes. We covered some material looking at what it means to be a disciple within the process of making disciples. Adam came with me to both our campuses and it was significant to me that he got to see and participate in the training we’re doing first hand.

The students have already been talking about what it would look like to have the Grace team back again for Spiritual Emphasis. With the breakout sessions and the new songs, it was a fun week. We give a great big shout out and thank you to Michael, Aiden and Adam for taking the time out of their week to visit with us and invest in our students spiritual growth.
