Spanish Wells Ministry and Missions Conference

Each year the People’s Church puts on a missions conference where they showcase their missionaries and give information about what’s happening around the world for missions. I have been personally blessed by seeing the reminders of whats so necessary in world missions, and why we decided to give our lives to this calling.

It was my hope this year that we could get all of our Windermere missionaries to come together at the conference and experience this work of renewal together. The only way we could get housing for this 4 day conference was if I had the Methodist Church’s manse reserved with its 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. However this meant that I would be ministering at a neighboring church while everyone else was attending the conference.

Despite the separation in location, all of us Windermere missionaries had a very fun time together in Spanish Wells. We would have liked to have more of the inspirational reminders, but mid-term break could only last so long.

During the week in Spanish Wells I got to lead the Bible Study on Thursday and the Youth Group on Friday. I am so thankful to the church’s new Youth Pastor Travis. He is working in a demographic that is increasingly disinterested in the things of God, so it was a joy to work alongside him. We briefly looked at Epistemology and the history of where the world has traveled through Modernity to Postmodernity (I’m not sure its the most engaging subject for teenagers, but it did spark some interesting conversations during the evening). Please keep Travis in your prayers as he seeks to point these young people to Christ.

You never fail for good food in Spanish Wells and the preaching and services at the People’s church were enriching for renewing the missionary call. More than anything, we are so thankful for all the relationships we have been blessed with from our church family on Spanish Wells. They are our greatest draw back to the island and ministry.
