Micah’s Trip Back Home

I am thankful for the opportunity to allow Micah to experience Wisconsin in November. He gets that same thrill of the brisk weather and color-changed leaves, and its important to us that he learns where we come from because all he knows is Eleuthera.

Each year I come back for the conference I drop Micah off at my parents house and he gets to spend some quality time with Meme and Papa. However this year Papa had to be gone for the week, so Meme and Micah had a greater percentage of quality time.

Meme put together a Bible verse “spy-game” with puzzles and codes to break, and a treasure hunt with a real treasure map and spy gear (mostly stuff reinvented from around the house). Micah thought it was amazing, and it was AMAZING. I couldn’t believe the effort she put into it, but it was their daily project to work on, and Micah looked forward to it every day.

She also did a great job in helping him to keep up with his homework; something else I was very thankful for as I was gone for the week to Iowa.

Micah got to maximize his experience home this year as God granted him the perfect weather for jumping into leaves and then it snowed almost 4-6 inches, and so he got to go out and go sledding and making snow men. He actually made his first every snowman all by himself, based just off what he has seen in pictures and movies. With a carrot from Meme and charcoal from Papa along with his hunting cap, the snowman couldn’t have been better. Micah was very proud.

He also got to do a lot of outdoor woodsman activities, like help to chop up the pumpkins for feeding the deer, and Papa taught him how to shoot a REAL bow and arrow, and he help us put the finishing touches on Papa’s deer blind for the upcoming gun season.

Micah and I had a great time traveling home together and I’m so happy that he was able to take way these memories from home.
