Sadie 3-6 Months – by Emily

Sadie has been growing like a weed! She’s a little rollie-pollie too! She gets called “chunky, fat, solid, rollie, chubby, and juicy” and many other endearing names every day, but my favorite is one my one friend who every time she sees her says “oooohh, she so juicy!!!!” She is now more than 18 pounds, and I love that she’s a cute little chubby baby! She was 16 and a half pounds on her 4 month birthday, and 24 inches, and she was 18 pounds on her 5 month birthday, and she was 24 ¾ inches.

On November 12th I started feeding her solid food, starting with rice cereal, which she loves! I have given her carrots (which ironically she loves too – carrots made me cry when I was pregnant), peas (which sometimes she loves and sometimes she hates), apples (which she also has a love/hate relationship with), and bananas (which she also ironically loves but I gagged on them when I was pregnant! I LOVE feeding her! It’s so fun!

She’s sleeping pretty good at night. When Ryan was in the States in the beginning of November, when Sadie turned 5 months, I dropped her 1:00 feeding at night so now she sleeps until sometime between 4-6 usually. She slept for nine hours on November 2, which is the longest and first time she’s done that! She is still in her cradle but she’s so big that she sleeps a lot of the time with her little feet propped up on the sides of the cradle. She also in the last few days has started to turn over and sleep on her tummy. I don’t like it but she keeps doing it so I am leaving her when she turns over.

Also, big milestone for her, yesterday, November 29th, she sat up officially for the first time! She has been able to sit up but only for a few seconds, but yesterday she sat up for a long time, and she’s suddenly a professional sitter! I’m proud! She can’t crawl or scoot yet, but the day after she turned 4 months she learned to turn from her back to her belly, and she now turns over a lot and rolls all around.

Sometimes I find her a few feet away from where I put her and find that she had rolled there. She now puts EVERYTHING in her mouth too, her toes being her favorite to put in her mouth! She grabs anything she can reach! It makes life a little more difficult, but everyone needs excitement in their life! And she loves to play with toys. Her favorite toys are a cup and a spoon.

We also got a play center from some dear friends of ours, and she loves to play in it! It is a blessing for me because it keeps her occupied while I’m making dinner or showering and things like that. She also loves to talk. I love having conversations with her, or just listening to her talk to herself! Her hair is growing longer, and it’s a little over her ears now. Her eyes are still bluish.

I decorated for Christmas yesterday. This was a big thing for me this year because for the last six years I have thought I would have another baby already, so I have had a stocking for another baby. And every year I have had to put it back in the box. It’s always been sad for me, but this year, I was able to hang four stockings.

I am reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord every time I look at those stockings! He, in His perfect timing, gave us a little girl. I’m glad He waited, even though it was hard for me, it was perfect! I’m so thankful for Sadie Mae!
