Pastor Chuck and Kim Martin at Windermere

Seems it never fails that when our US friends come to visit the Caribbean weather is always dreadfully cold (and by dreadfully, I mean in the 60’s… the high 60’s!). Still quite cold for snorkeling, as was the case with our dear friends the Martins on their recent visit to Eleuthera.

Chuck Martin is the senior pastor at our home church in Frisco Texas. We have worked together for years and they have been faithful supporters of our ministry here in at the school throughout the duration of our ministry. This most recent visit was both a chance to catch up and check on the work the Lord is accomplishing here on the island, and an opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the metroplex.

During the front end of their trip, they stayed in Harbour Island as the Lord graciously provided a small bungalow for a couple of nights. Even with the winter weather, they said they enjoyed their time of R&R. Then we were privileged to have Chuck and Kim stay with us for the remainder of their trip. Eleuthera is unique in that there is not much to do, however that being the case didn’t stop us from filling each night schedule with ministry.

Chuck accompanied me in teaching our Bible College classes on Monday and Tuesday nights, and then on Wednesday he spoke in church at our mid-week service. Thursday we traveled north to Spanish Wells and thoroughly enjoyed our time with Chuck and Kim as they treated us to dinner and then participated in our Thursday Bible Study at the Methodist Church.

Kim’s schedule was full as well as she shared her expertise in homeopathic healing with the WHS ladies (Chuck calls her the “guru”). They also had a “girls brunch” – even though I snuck in for a taste of the treats.

We are so thankful for their friendship and continued partnership in the gospel, and it was such a blessing to spend a week with our pastor and his wife again. It was so refreshing to stay up late with Chuck and Kim talking about ministry and how God has been working both in our lives and at FBC Frisco. We loved our time sharing with them and praying for the future. Until next time Martins, and we’ll always have a room available!
