Texas Trip

It has been almost 5 years since we’ve reconnected with our sending church from Texas. The people of First Baptist Church have been unquestionably instrumental in sending and supporting us here on Eleuthera and finally we’ve had a chance to go back and give a report to the church on the last couple of years of service.

I’m always amazed at 2 things when I return to FBC. 1st is the way in which things don’t change. I’m always overjoyed to see familiar faces and familiar folks serving in their old familiar ways. There is a continuity with the church where it almost feels like we never left. One of my good friends, Mark, has taken over one of my old responsibilities in serving as the conductor of the service, working all the various ministries together, and he jokingly asked if I wanted to take it over again for the Sunday we were in town. I said, no. Which brings me to my second observation, that everything is continually changing. The church in many ways looks completely different. There are new buildings, lots of them, new signs, new entrances, new new new!

These two opposing observations make me see how God is truly the one that is causing His Kingdom to grow here on earth. He uses us and causes us to be faithful, and he advances the work to keep reaching the next soul and draws them into the flock.

We had a wonderful time in Texas, and would like to say a special thanks to all those who opened up their homes to us and gave us a place to stay while we were there, and thanks to the family who allowed us to drive their car. At every turn we found that our home church was truly our home. May God continue to grow and bless the expression of His body serving in Frisco.
