Each year we sacrifice some time to close the textbooks for a couple of days and open our bibles, we call these weeks Spiritual Emphasis. This year we had the privilege of welcoming again a team from Grace Church in Ohio, Emily’s home church, to come and sponsor our Fall Spiritual Emphasis week.
Their emphasis was showing the children through their own testimonies and the Word what it looks like to follow after God. Each day had 3 teaching sessions followed by breakout groups where the kids had to interact with the content of each message and worth through critical thinking and application from their own life and experience.
We had a great time getting to know these three men from Grace. Pastor Bob Combs was one of them and he was such a blessing to the students and staff. We still refer to him by his affectionately disarming moniker “good-looking Bob!” He did our first day of Professional Development with the staff and just did an amazing job attaching the dangers of the past within the lives of our students to show where the root of some of their decisions and behavior stem from.
Benniah and Ryan did a great job in their sessions too, and they also helped with some ministry opportunities up in Spanish Wells.
We are so thankful for the investment Grace church makes with the High School. Their financial contribution provides what we need for advancement and upgrades which the school could never afford, and their investment of personnel as servants to come and give of their time and invest in our staff and students is priceless.
