11.29.07 – Missions Banquet

Yesterday we got to present our missionary goals to our church in Frisco. I have to say that it has been very encouraging to see how our church continues to take progressive steps at becoming a missional church. We currently support missionaries through the cooperative program, our local mission board, and independent missionaries.

We got to share our heart and the vision of CMA with the church at a banquet held in our church gymnasium. The banquet was the scene of our church’s endeavor to raise $50,000 for various mission goals.

Emily and I presented our calling to the mission of God through our past experiences with short terms missions. Then I got to share the uniqueness of CMA, to focus its attention to the training and equipping of pastors and church workers throughout the Caribbean. I used Google Earth to give everyone a bird’s eye view of where we will be ministering.

It is going to be so hard to leave FBC come this summer. Emily and I have really felt loved and supported by our friends from church, and the relationships we’ve made are ones worth keeping for a lifetime. I also have to say a special thanks to our Pastor Chuck for giving me some help with the presentation and to Bob Johnson for all his support and encouragement in our missionary goals. As FBC Frisco stands in support of our calling, we are emphasizing that it’s not that we’re leaving the church to become missionaries, but rather we’re simply transitioning job descriptions. Thanks to everyone who has been such a help and encouragement as we look to a future as missionaries.
