Fund Raising Banquet 2015

Each year Windermere holds a fund raising banquet to help defray costs from our tuition payments for running the school. It really ought to be a WHS reunion banquet, and next year, hopefully we’ll see it as such, as it will the 50 year anniversary for the school. Until that time, the fund raising banquet is an annual repeat of free food, inspiration messages, funny staff songs and a public refrain of the work and unique calling of WHS.

This year’s speaker was non-other than our NTM director Bob Johnson. He and his wife flew in the day before and are staying in our newly/almost completed cottage. Bob has been involved with leading foreign mission teams with North Texas for over a decade, and this year marks 5 years of direct involvement with Windermere. He has seen our initial snack shop renovation of 2011 and this year’s snack shop renovation! He has watched our missionary team grow from 1 family to 6! And my suspicion is that there is more to come.

The banquet was a success and it helped to continue to foster into the minds and hearts of those in attendance the importance of Windermere’s calling and the difference this school is making in the lives of young people. Testimony was given that our graduates are involved in all fields from medicine to education, politics to public servants, lawyers to entrepreneurs. Bob cited in his address that Windermere has over 50% of its student body on the honor roll, and every member of the graduating class is attending college after graduation. Investment in the school is to invest in a calling greater than a school. Its a participation with a work of God to reach into the despair and destruction with which young people are plagued, and show them a brighter path, towards their Savior.
